Do you tow a SUV ??

Looking to purchase a tow vehicle. Want a small SUV since it will also be our second vehicle. Having a heck of a time figuring out what's available to flat tow that is an automatic. Help please.

We have a jeep JK toad that is an automatic pulled behind our coach. Put the transfer case in netural and the auto in park, put the key in our pocket and tow....

If you tow something with a steering lock you will nedd to leave the key in acc. This may require pulling fuses.

I'm pulling an '08 Explorer using Blue Ox gear.. Pretty simple. It's a 4WD V6 model.

I pulled a 2010 2 dr and 2011 4dr wrangler liked them both now tow a 2012 explorer for us a better choice because it seat 7 all 3 where easy pull and none where all that pricey bought them all new the wrangler had very little depreciation and DW says we are keeping the explorer a long time she loves it as her daily driver ,she hated both jeeps

I pull an 01 Jeep Cherokee. Transfer case in neutral, gear shift in park, key in acc position. No need to pull fuses. Use full blue ox set up incl. Blue ox auto stop

We're not towing a car yet but doing some research and have discovered several Honda models can be towed 4 down and are automatic. CRV especially.
Its capable of seating 4 adults and a child's seat if that matters.

You may be able to tow your Highlander if you put a driveshaft disconnect on it. We tow our Pathfinder with an automatic transmission and 4wd. If you need details send me a private message and I will respond via this thread.

The bible of dingy towing is the Motorhome magazine "Dingy towing guide". Its invaluable for selecting and info on towable vehicles "all 4 down. Search Motorhome Dingy towing guide for free info by model year.

Thanks Rambler but it's time to trade...so we will purchase one that is flat towable. Strongly leaning toward the Honda CRV.

There is a publication called the dingy towing guide. This is a fantastic resource. It has details on all towable vehicles and includes data like weight, max towing speed, max tow time between starts etc.

We tow an AND Ford Flex behind our 390BH-60. This is a fantastic vehicle. It drives like a car but is bigger that many of the SUVs ... like Ford Escape etc. It has been very reliable, It is good on gas and handles like a dream. It is certainly worth a look. It is my first AWD vehicle and will certainly be my last.
