Can't tell you the price today but I had one replaced several years ago. At the time I found that the best overall "deal" was at the Ford Dealer for a "Factory Remanufactured Exchange".

It was only a couple thousand or so for EVERYTHING, parts, labor, etc. Local shops were quoting lower prices but I just didn't have a 'warm fuzzy feeling" I would be getting a quality "Rebuild" from most of them and the Ford warranty was a deal maker for me. If I was 2,000 miles away and had a problem I could merely go to the nearest Ford Dealer (or be towed). No hassles with phone calls, delays, or whatever, just have a copy of the repair order it would be dealt with by Ford.

FWIW, I put another 100,000 miles on the "Reman Tranny" before I sold the vehicle, without a single issue at all.
