How to change batteries on carbon monoxide dectector
Help!! I've searched and even looked at the manual but no instructions on how to remove cover go replace batteries. It keeps beeping!! Help? I know it can't be that hard but I can't figure it out!

Some have small Philips head screws holding it together. Rub your finger over the back side and see if you can feel indentations through the paper stickers (label etc.). If so, puncture them and deep inside should be the screws. Maybe not your type.

Mine is the Atwood 900-1043...its supposed to have an easy cover removal....apparently not for this idiot!!

Are you sure it has batteries? I'm not saying it doesn't but my detector doesn't have user replaceable batteries.
Let me see if I can find other posts on it, to tell how to change them.

You are on the right track, as the owners manual in step 4 of page 1 does say that all you do is slide the cover..

However, it appears on page 2, that you first remove the detector from it's mounting bracket to get to the battery cover.
Also, this is for an atwood 900-0143, which I am assuming is yours with just a typo...but maybe not.

Darn....nope, mine is the Atwood 900-1043 and it is actually round. There is another PDF out there under Northstar RV? It says you replace the batteries but it doesn't tell you how! We are traveling right now and I'll have more time to look at it once we get to our destination.

Found page 16!! Did a search for the actual model and found a full PDF. Going to see if it actually works the way they say...you just flip the cover....mmmhmmmm

I thought Carbon monoxide and propane were connected straight to house bat. The one in my rv was when I replaced it.

I think some chemical sensors have only a seven or ten year life and the unit has to be replaced, but maybe that is just the residential detectors?

I was told RV's are 5 years. Date on the unit.

Also turns out the installers mounted the bracket where it hid the opening to the batteries. Had to remove the bracket and then it was obvious how to access the battery area.

Some CO and Propane sensor don't have batteries. Mine I had to replace them, no batteries in either of them. You can buy CO sensor that wire in, or wire in and batteries, or just batteries. Propane I have only found the wire in type.
