If You were Me?

I’m a 70 (old), limited (lazy), single (alone), and have become somewhat complacent, preferring things simple with the least amount of hassle and problems the better. I’m about to sell home and belongings to take up the RV lifestyle to enjoy nature following the summers from north to south, staying on the go, avoiding crowds of people, with occasional trips into cities for sightseeing, entertainment, and supplies. With your experiences RVing, what might you recommend if you were me with an initial purchasing budget of up to $140k max. I’ve listed items which seem to me to be initial considerations. Thx for any and all comments, serious or in jest.

If you are really that lazy that you can't decide what you want, maybe RVing is too much in general
But if I was single, sold everything, and wanted to travel alone, I would buy a truck camper or a small class C.

I have a friend who is an avid photographer and birder who travels the country with a smaller travel trailer and a Toyota Tacoma truck. I think his trailer is maybe an 18 footer. He manages to boondock or stay in state parks the majority of his travels.

I’m not single but it never hurts to plan ahead in the event one of us ends up being alone. This is my list so far but DH might have a different plan.

if it were me, you can get a very nice class B for your budget. take it pretty much anywhere.

If I was old, lazy, alone, and was somewhat complacent, I would think long and hard about a full time RV venture. RV's are labor intensive enough during the regular camping season. Using it 24/7/365 will only compound the matter. You will have your work cut out for you, and if you choose to have someone else perform all of your maintenance you best have deep pockets. I wouldn't even begin to make recommendations of what you should get. Just know that whatever you choose you own it.

Before we bought our motor home we rented a C+, B and C for a week to 10 days each. Many people say they wish they had bought their third RV first!
We did!
By renting we were more confident that we liked the RV life, we had tented when we were younger, and that the C we bought was right for us. Renting is expensive but perhaps cheap in the long run. You will have at least tried out some of your options as to size and features.

I also would recommend looking at Class B. The advantage is that you can fit in to spaces that a van would be able to fit. It would be easier to drive and now they make them with slides for more room especially in a campground. There are also some with the chassis made by Mercedes. Having just returned from a 4 month cross country trip, we saw a lot more Class B's than ever before. Much better on gas mileage as well.
