LED Step Lights - Installed

We recently purchased our Georgetown and discovered on the very first trip how dark the inside steps were at night.

I found some discreet lighting on the M4 LED website.
1 Inch Round Flush Mount Accent Light

Holes are drilled in the face of the steps, the wiring is pushed through, then the light is press fit into the hole.

I didn't like that there wasn't a threaded nut on the backside for a secure mount. Instead, I used a little hot glue on the interior flange to hold them in place, then I put clear RTV on the back of the LEDs. They aren't going anywhere, and are now watertight.

The other thing I didn't like was the oversized logo on the lights. No option to buy these without it. I used an oil based paint pen to black out the lettering.

Really pleased with how they perform. The housing is aluminum, and appear to be a quality product.

The outdoor steps "do" have a light, but leaves a lot to be desired. I think I can fit these same LEDs in the face of each of the metal steps. Need to measure it and examine the underside of the steps to make sure there's no mechanical interference. If it's doable, I'll order 3 more and update when complete.

There's a control panel by the entry door inside. I removed the panel to see what my options were.

The switch on the right controls the LED patio awning light. The orange wire is hot, the white wire ground, and the blue wire is switched and goes to those LEDs.

The control panel looks like it's on a pedestal, but it's really a wire conduit, leading to the battery compartment.

I dug through the split looms until I found the blue wire, and verified the power switched on/off with the patio LED lighting.

The test light I recently bought has a built-in needle probe to stab wires. It's so fine/sharp, it leaves almost no visible hole when removed. To use it, connect the built-in alligator clip to a ground source, hook the probe over a wire, press the handle to stab the wire. If there's 12V available, it will light up. I keep this tool on the RV now. If you press the handle, with no wire in the hook, the needle projects out the end of the hook, allowing much fatter wires to be tested without the need to fit in the hook end. Like most everything else I buy, found it on Amazon.
