Newbie mistake leveling my new 2017 3011DS Forester

Hope I'm not the first one to do this but when leveling make sure all doors are closed! I left my right rear cargo door open and when front levelers went down it pushed rear down and drove cargo door right in the ground! Now have to replace cargo door.

That sure must have been a very unlevel space to do that.
Like they say live and learn. Many times it costs $$$$ to learn.

Sorry about your misfortune. A related issue to keep in mind. Never lower your rear stabilizers before you level the rig with the front jacks. I learned the hard way that with the rear stabilizers in contact with the ground, raising the trailer from the front attempts to place ALL the weight of the trailer on the front jacks because the fulcrum provided by the wheels is no longer there. Those front jacks are levelers, not jacks designed to lift the whole thing. I broke a weld on one jack and burned out the motor before I realized what I had done. This was on a 5er with mechanical jacks in front and scissor stabilizers on the rear, so I don't know if the same applies to hydraulic systems.
