Not a good day camping
Last week we pulled into Lake of Two Rivers campground in Algonquin Park (Ontario) and this was a few sites over.
I wasn't able to speak to anyone who was there but learned that no one was injured. Apparently it started when the owner was away in his toad and the speculation was that it may have been electrical (one of the pictures shows the 50amp MH was plugged into the 30amp service through an adapter).
As you can see, nearly everything that wasn't steel or copper was completely consumed - even the aluminum rims are mostly slagged and burned away. The heat was so intense it set the picnic table on fire, melted the mesh out of the recliner and one of the tires on the toad dolly in the corner of the site. Fortunately, there was no wind and the forest fire danger was low so it did not spread but a few of the nearest trees have pretty sad-looking trunks and the needles are scorched off to the 80-foot top.
In one of the pictures, you can see the edge of the frame of the folding couch well away from the MH. I don't know how that can happen because those things are usually well bolted-down so it must have just tumbled there when the slideout and floor was consumed - like most things tumbled away as the structure was consumed.
