So, let’s talk bumpers!
I see many of the jk toads with aftermarket bumpers, but still use a base plate..
Why not use a d ring adapter and pull from your recovery points?

That's what I use towing my 2010 JK, but with the lift I needed to use a riser hitch to keep the proper angle. I don't have any pictures of what it looks like all connected, here's front picture of the bumper. I'll be heading South in 2 weeks with Jeep in Toad I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested what it looks like all hitched up.

I don't have a base plate. The two brackets for the tow bar are bolted to the bumper. It came that way from rock hard 4x4

Post up your Jeep Toad
You’re good with those 4 stainless bolts holding the entire weight of the Jeep?

So far, I've towed it over 3,000 miles and the bolts are still tight. They have options for the brackets for each type of tow bar manufacturer. The bumper and the brackets are 1/4" thick. I wondered that before I bought it, but the set up is pretty solid and it has the same number of bolts as a base plate connection. The bumper bolts onto the factory bumper holes.

Those brackets and D-rings will far outlast the towbar, cables, and most likely the hitch. You could hang that Jeep from just one of those D-rings and it wouldn't think twice about it.

Right on.
I would trust the d ring mounts over anything else.
I would think the hook would open up first.
