Roadside assistance

I use Good Sam Roadside Assistance.
We switched to them July of 2011 right before taking a trip from Virginia to Pensacola, FL. The price was right, about $100, and they cover ALL of my vehicles. My Sunseeker RV, wife's car, daughter's car, and my motorcycle.
Unlimited mileage towing to a repair facility was the biggest selling point. They have tire change service also. I clipped a curb and took out my starboard outside dual tire. Called Roadside Assistance and they had a tech there to change the tire in a reasonable time. No additional charge, just a small tip (not required, but a nice thing) to the guy as a thank you for the good work. Good Sam also has a trip routing web service that seems to work fairly well. It takes your vehicle info like mpg and helps pick a route, has grade warnings and all.

Side note - Got another missive Saturday from AAA asking us to come back to them, to the tune of $173 a year for the cars. No RV, no motorcycle, limited miles free towing. Sure they have travel services and tour books and maps, but we use the web services as well as the old fashioned Rand McNally atlas for quick and dirty information.

Not a salesman for Good Sam Roadside Assistance, just a happy customer.

Chris in Roanoke, Virginia

I have had Good Sams ERS for many years and used them twice. Once was a major breakdown of my truck while towing. I'm very pleased with the service.

Because of the purchase of the new Silverback, I currently have Coachnet also, but haven't had the opportunity to use them yet (thank God).

Coach-net here. Used 3 times all on our vehicles. Think they are great, quick to respond. I think about 110.00 a year

I have the Good Sam Emergency Roadside Service for the first time this year (we're using our Fiver a minimum of 1 week out of each month) and thankfully haven't had to use them, but I've heard so many great things.

And...they are RV specialists, plus as mentioned before - they cover all of our vehicles, so my wife is covered if she's out of town without me.

Good peace of mind.

What ever service you purchase ask them how they would move your TT or 5er if you have a bad bearing. The trailer can not be towed and the only way it can be moved is by a low haul trailer. This is the same trailer used to move large construction equipment. I had a bearing go on a major highway in the spring. Could not find a trailer that was able to move my v nose. I did have a spare set of bearing with me and the tow driver from CAA (AAA) changed the bearing on the side of the road.

I have Coach Net. Recently I was in Rock Springs, Wyoming (far from home) and needed their service. I called and the guy was at my rig in about 30 minutes. He did his thing and was on his way. No out of pocket cost (other than the annual fee) and it was all very smooth and professional. After the service, Coach Net calls back to make sure it was done in a timely manner, professionally, and wants to know if there is anything else they can help with. I am ABSOLUTELY sold on Coach Net.

We have been very happy with our Coach-Net service over the past twelve years or so. We used them most recently in June, when we had a high pressure fuel sensor go bad on our CAT engine. Coach-Net brought us fuel to run the generator while we were stuck on a lot over the weekend, sent a mobile mechanic to diagnose the problem, got us an appointment at the CAT facility in Springfield, MO, and towed us there.

As a bonus, if you buy a new Forest River RV, you'll get a certificate for a year's free membership in Coach-Net, and soon we'll have a discount program for renewals up on the FROG website.

Coverage is not only for your RV, but for all of your vehicles, and any rented/borrowed vehicle that you or your immediate family might be using.

Mr.Morris, you just saved me the effort of asking.A one year plan by Coach-Net as mentioned by Bob came with our Primetime Crusader which offically expired right about now!!! So we too will be looking at the results of this poll so to speak!

Since our new Rockwood fifth wheel is on order, I've been shopping around for both insurance and roadside assistance coverage. If the Coach-Net coverage extends to fifth wheel, you just save us $$$, which we can now spend on equiping our unit. Thank you so much.

Gratefully,

Same here, coachnet just expured. We have CAA but not convinced they are the best choice for RV. This thread convinced me to renew with a roadside assistance service. Have goodsam's lifetime membership and was thinking of going with them but now not sure between coachnet or goodsam
