Styrofoam in Lights

On my winter journey, I have noticed that the lenses on my ceiling lights, all 6, have styrofoam "dust" in them. Remove and clean but next stop there is more. If I remove the lens, I can see that they ran the wires through a hole in the styrofoam and just left it exposed. Thinking of spraying some foam in there to contain the styrofoam, but wondering if that might cause a problem.

Mine are filled with sawdust. It's on my to-do list to clean 'em out. I wonder if it's not all sawdust......

A little silicone caulk to fill the entry prolly wouldn't harm too much.

My first thoughts would be to stuff cotton balls into those passages... Then I thought about fire hazard and am now thinking I might use fiberglass insulation type material....

Be careful about which which spray foam you use if you go that route. Some expands alot and may cause more problems than it solves. There is a minimal expanding foam made for use around doors and windows.

I'm thinking some fire resistant insulation might work. Like cotton.
