Suggestion for Class A with Washer, big fridge, place for a small desk (bunk bed?)

Hi guys,

Me and my wife (no kids) are planing to travel the US on a class A, and had the following requirements:
- washer/dryer
- place for a small desk for laptop and 2 external monitors

Nice to have:
- bigger fridge
- not too long

What are your guys suggestion?

Thanks

John

Lots of motorhomes have double-sided fridges. Since my wife and I love to cook, this is important to us, also.

Are the external monitors an absolute necessity for you or could you get by with larger laptops? I ask, because we’ve generally been able to work on the dining table without getting in each others way. But if you are both working full-time and need those monitors, then converting a bunkhouse space into a desk makes sense, assuming there is an AC outlet nearby.

Also, our mh has a flip up laptop/writing table in front of the passenger seat. There’s also a handy AC outlet just below it. One could work there while the other is on the dining table.

You didn’t mention your budget and you didn’t mention if you wanted new vs. used. Letting people know that info may garner you some more replies.

A good bet would be to get a Motorhome with bunk beds. Converting bunks to an office that you require is an easy task

There are soooo many motorhomes with bunkhouses, double-wide fridges, and washer/dryers on the market. The Forest River FR3 32DS is one of them, and probably one of the least expensive to purchase (never pay retail). I'm a fan of the 2021's and later as they have LED interior lighting, built-in solar, W/D hookup (some with the W/D), and a large LCD display for the driver that has ApplePlay built into it.

But you may prefer another model like Newmar Bay Star or a Jayco Precept? Those are two other gas engine RVs, which are less expensive then diesel pushers in terms of purchase price and maintenance.

What I'd recommend is using RVTRADER to view various models and their floorplans. I'd also recommend visiting a local RV show to help you visualize yourself in one, and maybe get a better definition of your must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, as those are all personal choices.

I'd also recommend renting one for 10 days or so, prior to purchasing. When we did that, we immediately discovered our must-haves, as well as things we didn't want to deal with.

Once you have things narrowed down, then you can focus on looking for good deals in the marketplace. Best of luck in the search!

We'd like to help, but you need to make some choices...
How long is your max? Many National and state parks limit you to 30'. Not many class A's fit that requirement although some National parks allow up to 40'. Just be aware that you might not fit in some parks.
Do you want gas or diesel?
Do you want queen, king or twin beds?
How important is a large kitchen, areas to relax, etc.?
How much do you want to pay?

We started our search on the web at various manufacturer's websites for floorplans that we liked. Then a visit to dealers to see the ones you pick out. RV trader gives you a pricerange and dealers where the rigs are located.

I wouldn't worry about the 30ft. rule. This coming Monday I'm heading out for our last trip of the season to a NYS park that has the campsite max listed at 25ft. So, when I reserved the spot of course I had to put down that my 36' rig was only 25'. I've stayed at this park several times including last year at the same time so I know I fit. A lot of parks are still stuck in the 50s and 60s when they built the campgrounds and have never updated their site specs. Another reason they may have a more limited size requirement is the interior roads of the CG may be narrow with tight turns. Places like this would definitely hamper the big pick-up and 40' fifth wheel combo.

One decision the OP needs to make is gas or diesel. Big difference in amenities and cost. Also, most DP will have larger residential fridges. Another rig that you see some YouTubers use with an office-type setting is Toyhauler. The most common is probably the Thor Outlaw. You can outfit the rear storage area as an office and still carry a small car, ATV, motorcycle, etc. Newmar makes one too that now has a front-engine diesel. Of course, if the OP goes into the higher-end DPs from Newmar or Allegro there may be work stations already incorporated into the rigs floor plan.

In the gasoline powered Class A Forest River family of products, the Georgetown GT 5 34M5 seems to meet much of your criteria. It’s a very nice rig:

Start at the Newmar New Aire and work your way down until your budget is reached
