Anode

Hello everyone ... first time post here. I've acquired a 2014 16UL W&P TH. I've installed an Anderson WD hitch, Magnaflow fan, and a 7 pin cord and distribution box, a strip of angled aluminum along the bottom entry board edge (near hinge of ramp) and plan to install a TV, grab handle, shower wand/head, backup light bar, power hitch jack ... as well as a few casework repairs in the bathroom.
I write to inquire about the anode (currently only a plastic plug). I think my unit is a 6 gal mpd 93756 water heater. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!!!

No anode is required and plastic plug is what is supplied.

If your water heater came with a plastic drain plug, it doesn't require an anode rod. Tell us who made the heater so we don't have to look up mpd 93756.

Soooo.... without an anode ... the whole unit is disposable?
Kinda like the A/C unit that can't be serviced with freon?

Atwood tanks do not require an anode because the tank is made from aluminum.

Suburban tanks are porcelain lined steel and require an anode rod.

Suburban WH’s use anode rods. Atwood does not.
Also, the recovery on Atwood is quicker so you can take longer showers. No need for “navy” showers. (Unless boondocking)

The Atwood tank if left with water in the tank sitting not in use for a week or so will stink to high heaven. Takes a while to run the water and get rid of that smell. almost two days use for us. To avoid this keep it drained when not in use. Not my idea , but when I owned a travel trailer it had a Atwood and I followed this mod to make it easy to drain the tank when not being used. Never had the stinky issue again. Way to easy to drain after this simple cheap mod.

List of parts you need.
