Left Turn Signal

Just picked up a used 2010 WPT30WR, and the left turn signal isn't working. I opened the conduit box under the tongue, and the yellow wire from the hitch plug is capped off and not hooked up to anything. There are also no disconnected wires coming from the trailer side that I could find. Does anyone know what color the left turn signal wire is on the trailer side?

The colors may be unreliable.

Here is the pin out for the connector and what I use to keep em clean.

Did you try a new bulb? Sometimes you have to plug and unplug the trailer connector from the TV connector a few times to get a good connection. If that doesn't fix it I would use a multimeter to check the connection on the TV for power. If it's good then check bulb socket on the trailer for power.

I use a dental pick to clean up the contacts, then coat them with "electrolytic" grease for protection from moisture. Making sure all that is good...then on to the multi meter! Your wiring is most likely fine, look for the obvious...be the bulb! lol

Just an FYI. My camper's tailgate light bulbs are corroded into the sockets and can't be removed without breaking them. They still work, but I carry the replacement tail light assemblies in the camper for when they don't.

Maybe blown fuse on tow vec.

This is a good point. Does the left parking light work with the lights on?
The same truck fuse works both the left turn signal and the left tail/parking light.

on newer trucks and his may fall into that category. the trailer stop turn tail fuses are separate from tv. so if theres a short in the tt the tv still works ok .

I most likely was not clear. I was refering to the fuse that guards the trailer plug Left Turn/Left parking light; not the trucks light system.

On the subject of trailer lights: the other night I wanted to check the lights on my TT. I backed the tv up to the tongue, did not connect. I connected the plug for my TT to check my lights, the weidest thing happened when I turned the left turn signal on, the signal was blinking, so was my clearance lights. You can just imagine what went through my mind, what kind of problem is this? I then connected the tv to the TT and everything worked as prescribed. I thought...Ground....truck to trailer. Well at least now I know what happens when you want to short cut things...

Thanks for all the replies. The left turn signal is the yellow wire, which is typical for trailer wiring. I have 12V flashing to the end of the yellow wire coming from the plug side, which is not hooked up to anything. The tail lights work. It was getting dark when I was trying to fix it, but on the light itself the tail light wire looked brown and hooked to a brown wire, black ground was hooked to a bundle of green wires, and the red wire which should be the turn signal was hooked to a red wire. There were several red wires in the conduit box under the tongue, but none were unhooked.

I haven't tried a new bulb, but I can see the element inside the bulb and it's not broken. Still, wouldn't hurt to have a spare. I will pick one up.

I also towed a friend's cargo trailer a couple weeks ago, which has the same Truck-Lite type tail lights, and it worked fine with my truck.

You really can't tell if a bulb or fuse is good by looking at it. A Volt Ohm Meter is the best way to check it.

Based on what you have stated, I think you have a bad bulb or socket. Check for corrosion under the bulb.

Let us know how this finally resolves. The Bargman color code has the yellow connected to the center post and "not used" in most installations.

Replaced the bulb with no luck. I can't find my test light, and digital multimeters suck for diagnostics. Will acquire another test light and start chasing wires. I will update this thread when I find the problem.
