My fiver and truck can't handle all my tools. I carry basics, along with zip ties, bailing wire and duct tape.

Seriously though, all you ever need are:

1) Access to cash (bills, credit card, debit)
2) Access to communication (cell phone)
3) Proof of who you are (Driver's license, medical cards, etc...)

Everything else can be bought as needed.
I'll be darned! I got to the end of my driveway only to realize I left my wallet in the house. Glad I ran all these posts through my head as I was pulling out. That sure would have made for a short trip

All great suggestions. If you have pets be sure to take their papers. Proof of Rabies shots etc. We keep a copy in the camper.

I didn't see anyone mention prescription medications! Make sure you have enough for the entire trip plus a couple of days (to give yourself buffer time to get them refilled after you get home).

Some meds are difficult to get refilled while on the road, and *always* check that you aren't down to "0 refills" left on the must-take-no-exceptions meds.

Sneak has turned around and come back home when we were 1/2 hour out for meds that are in the category of "oh no, ain't dealin' with this woman without THAT med!" when it was just a weekend trip.

So now, all of my meds are in a little girlie version of a shaving kit bag. Grab it and geaux!

Medicine was the First item on my list in post number 3. For me its allergy meds.

We have a checklist like the one Mark recommended that we've used for years. DW Risingstar prints it out each trip and marks things off.

Well, apparently it's official; CRS is a virus, pixelborne!
