2015 shamrock 233s water filter
My internal water filter decided it wanted to unscrew it self and leak all over my new floor. So.... I cut it out and replaced it with some straight tube. I will now use external filter. Works great. Glad I did it!!!!

That is just crazy. I read to many of these stories on here! That is why the first thing I did to my brand new 2016 was cut the pex at both sides of the filter and use a sharkbite coupling to couple the lines together. I had enough slack in the pex that I didn't need to add any tubing.

Ya I should have removed it soon as I got it but I had no idea about some of this stuff. That is cool u didn't have to add any tubing. I only had to add about 8 inches. Sounds like they need to add better filter systems with the new campers. Owell, external filter and I am happy camper again

Isn't it nice to pay for the "optional filter" only to have it flood your camper and have to remove it and throw it away. There should be a recall and additional warrantee time due to the flooded floors. During my PDI they couldn't even show me where it was to install the filter, probably didn't want to disturb it and get me out of there before it fell off.

It's amazing how they take ur money and they know it's a crap design. The more I think about it the happier I am now it is removed. I will never flood again due to a stupid filter. I usually bring bottled water with for drinking and cooking so we didn't really need it any way. But I did pick up an external filter just to be on safe side.

We will go back to the camco blue filter again. I added a Pur filter to the kitchen sink tap. My bottled water is mixed with barley and hops.

Howie70, what is a shark bite coupling? Where do you get this. If this is easy to do, I'll give it a try.

Shark bite fittings or "push locks" can be found @ most big box home centers.
Lowes, home Depot, menards.

Been there, done that with the flooding
I didn't have any leak issues with the factory filter in our 2014 Roo 25RS but I replaced it with a similar type filter from Lowe's that used better, cheaper filters. Wasn't long before I had a major leak with that one and have since gone with the exterior / inline hose type filter to get away from anymore potential floods inside the trailer. To connect the two ends of pex left by the removed filter I used a flexible section of hose that was made to bridge a residential toilet tank to the wall, so far no more issues. It's a little long but just coils out of the way under the bottom bunk.

Ditto on what Turbs said.
I got mine at Lowes and they are very easy to use/install.

I went to lowes. Bought 1ft of plastic tubing. 1/2 inside diameter ,5/8 outside diameter. Then got a 1/2 coupler "push lock". It costed a whole 8 buck when I was done. 8 dollars to save my 20k camper from flooding well worth it. I posted pics. The first pic shows how I jammed the filter wrench in the cabinet to keep it from unscrewing. Second pic is with filter removed.

Heading to the Depot tonight to get my Forest River feature option enhancement kit (sharkbites). I'm thinking of rerouting the houses so I can expand the cubby since the filter will be removed. You know its one thing if these were new to me/us trailers, but they are brand new!!

Good idea on expanding the storage. Good luck with the removal of the filter. It's pretty straight forward. I am so happy I removed mine

It appears the bracket that holds the housing in was installed before they finished construction. The floor leading to the rear bunk is installed over the bracket.
