2019 Roo's
Hey Folks! First time posting... Long time follower/reader.
It's time for us to upgrade from a pop-up to a Roo/Shamrock. Looking at the 2019 21SS model I noticed that the fresh water tank is now 58 gallons (manufactured after Sept 2018) and the entry steps now fold up into the door way.
We like the larger H2O tank but are unsure of the entry steps. Does anyone have/use steps like these? Looking for pro's and con's.
Seems to me that it will be dumping dirt, water, etc into the RV when you fold them up. Also, will it (stairs) fall back into the door will traveling down the road.
Also, does anyone know of any other changes/upgrades for the 2019 models?
Thanks,
Mike & Janine

stairs that fold under the trailer tend to get rusty and stiff at the hinge joints... I am forever wire-brushing, oiling and painting mine... I think inside the door and not folding up with a couple of hinge points might be better...
a whisk broom hung inside near the door will clean off any dirt/soil/water left on the step before it is folded into the camper

The stairs have metal flaps that pinch between the frame and screen door to keep them in place during transit.
The paint scheme and wifi ranger seem to be the only other noticable changes.

This ^^ Not hard at all to keep dirt out of the camper.
I've had several styles of steps and love our fold up steps. The best part for me is when folded in for travel there is no cut out under the door for steps. It looks clean!

Biggest changes are the enclosed underbelly, larger water tanks and the heavier duty steps.
There’s also a different WiFi Ranger that works off cellular, a diamond plate aluminum front guard, a mizer something for the hot water in the shower so you don’t waste as much hot water, and the color changes in the exterior and new interior options.
I think that’s it. I’m glad we got our early ‘19 when we did so we could camp all year but some of these changes would have been great for us to have. The later ‘19s are very nice.

Increased fresh water would be nice. The 6 gallons in the water heater is always listed in the capacity but isn't usable.
Rockwood makes frequent un-announced mid year changes in the same model year. Our early 2006 23SS is slightly different from the late 2006 models. The body shell was enlarged about this time but it's been almost 14 years so I don't recall when. Both interior width and height increased by 6" about this time. More robust axles, etc.

Thanks...
Thanks for the replies folks. I guess they won't be as big of a hassle as I thought that they would/might be.
Hopefully they have redesigned the fresh water tank brackets to be able to hold the larger tank.
Also, we noticed that the 'pebble' decor uses a different sofa than the 'chocolate' decor. Which (pebble decor) is not as comfortable (mainly due to it's depth when sitting on it).
Thanks again.
Cheers!

Ive only seen the chocolate decor on the 21ssl that I'll be purchasing soon, however, my wife fell in live with it when we walked in. What did you like best? The only difference ive seenbetween the 21ss and 21ssl is the 8x8 deck on the front for toys.

I started looking at the model you were but then I saw the Roo 235s and we bought one this past February. It's an exceptional layout. We love everything about it. The outdoor kitchen grabbed me and the wife loves the fireplace.

Some other changes (23IKSS):
- The mattresses are now high density foam;
- A larger battery box is fitted;
- Upgraded WiFi Ranger with LTE capability;
- 22" oven now standard;
- 360º Siphon roof vent for tanks.
Our unit will still have the Castle Rock ST205/75R14/LRD tires.

Yes, the foam mattresses are still heated. I don't know whether the other Roos will have them.
I have two new GC2s and am hoping the larger battery box will fit them. I'll find out tomorrow.

Not sure if they are high density, but the '19 roo 21ssl I just looked at had the heated matresses

2020 models should be on dealer lots in about 60 days. 2019 models are "last year's."

Our 23IKSS just landed at the dealer. We had a chance to check it out this afternoon before it goes into prep next week. Seems terrific at first glance.
Oh, and the paperwork lists it as a 2020 model! Looks like they're beginning to be delivered already!

2020 Roo
...We ordered our 21SS in Jan. Picked it up last Weds. It came as a 2020.
We took it out for a shake down run this past weekend. The fit and finish was really good... found nothing wrong EXCEPT for the refrigerator. Couldn't turn the temps down. The freezer got to -1° and the refer got down to 31°. Haven't checked into on how to fix that. Tried the 'slide' control on the fins but that didn't seem to help.
The mattresses were on the 'firm' side... which we like but some may not.
Other than having problems in getting the hitch to release from the ball it was a great weekend.
Cheers!

Refrigerator temps are about as low as they can go. Certainly don't want the main area even that cold. 40°F is fine there.
Coupler will release from the ball easier if it's not under pressure. Move the truck a 1/2" either way and it will release easier. You'll have to determine what way to move it. Electric tongue jack should release it regardless.

If your coupler looks like this one, there have been reports of them being difficult to get off. I've had trouble with mine. I stand on the bumper and bounce the TV up and down while running the jack up and it comes off OK.

This is what most of us are used to seeing.

But since it's almost 3X as much money, you know why we don't get them.

We tried adjusting the 'slide control' but it didn't seem to make a difference. Temps kept getting colder and colder. Would prefer the refer to be 40° or so.
I tried moving the truck back and forth... and the tongue jack up and down. It took a LOT of fiddling to get it to release AND lock down when hooking up. I've even greased/lubed the hitch up. Seems that it shouldn't be that difficult.
