30 amp power inlet detached from RV

My 2015 Rockwood Roo 23 IKSS 30 amp plastic power inlet detached from the RV, as the power cord accidentally got tugged too hard. Now I need to remount it to the RV sidewall BUT the 3 screw holes are stripped.

Wondering if I should:
1> get some wood backing to screw into (make a hole template for backing with 1/4" ply wood)
or
2> Back fill the holes with gel-coat filler, let it dry and re-screw
or
3> Purchase 3 larger screws ?
Ideas welcome...

I'd back it up so it's stronger than it was. The cord WILL get tugged again!

You could also drill the holes larger, install T nuts on the inside and use machine screws to remount it. This would be sturdier than wood screws.

If there is room to install a backing plate I would do that.

Your screws were Only screwed through a Thin outer layer of plastic and thin Luan! Make a template of your power gasket and secure it on the Inside of the wall with metal T nuts that will allow 3 fasteners to go Completely through the Power inlet and the wall! this will give you a sturdy mount and not have a Water intrusion issue later! Youroo!!

I had mine off last week to look in the hole to see where I might mount an EMS/surge protector. 3 of the 4 holes were stripped from the factory over tightening them. I replaced them with one size bigger diameter and long enough to go through the inner layer as well. Had to drill the holes out in the plastic receptacle to accept the larger screws.

Yes....larger screws......and toss the foam/rubber gasket and use butyl tape and then caulk the perimeter. The butyl will not only be a better seal than the gasket, it will act as an adhesive.

Perfect application for 10-24 T Nuts. Got to Home Depot and get 4 of these. Drill out the holes to fit the outer diameter, put a little sealant on the flange and push them in from the inside.

...and use butyl and new stainless screws. Still removable but solid. Never happen again.

You can get to the screw holes under bathroom sink, use long bolts with washers and nuts, it will prevent that from happening again, I never full twisted my 30AMP cable just in case but you can use longs bolts with nuts and washers.

If you are going to use T-nuts (aka blind nuts) I suggest the prong type, like these from Bolt Depot.

But as wicked1 said, Bolts with standard nuts and washers are even better.
