Anyone install these?

I hate the table that came with our Roo. The base weighs a ton and it folds like a Z. We lose all the storage space under the table when it’s down. I’ve thought about installing these flush mount table bases and just using the table top. Anyone install these? I assume they will protrude through the entire floor assembly. Pretty nervous about drilling through the floor. I know they have surface mount ones too but when we travel with the dog his bed goes there. So would prefer that he flush mount. Looking for someone to talk me out of it! Thanks.

Have no clue what Roo table "folds like a Z." Plenty of storage space under ours when down outside grill fits easily.

Got a photo?

One thing to check is if there are floor heater ducts in that area. On my Wildwood, the table leg was directly over the duct and the factory crushed it to about 1/2 size.

You will not be happy with a pedestal mount, to much wiggle and wobble.

I love the new style table. It’s very sturdy. It has minimal storage space when it’s down for traveling underneath. But tons up top for traveling. My parents have the old style with poles and they hate them them. They wobble way too much and not very sturdy

What does the new style table look like? So you have any pictures?

I don’t have one handy. The table is buried in the basement right now. But the base kinda looks like this. Click image for larger version

No way I'd install one of these. My old trailer had one and eventually the socket came loose from the floor.

Unless you can install the socket in concrete the table will wobble terribly.

I'm finding the solution to not having enough space to store "stuff" is to simply take less "stuff" along. I recently went through my storage areas and realized a huge amount of "stuff" was never used in the last couple years. Took a couple hundred pounds out before last trip and didn't miss a single item.

Interesting concept. Less stuff! Even if I had 2 of these bases you all think it will wobble that bad? We don’t use the table much. Mainly kids playing games at night or if it’s raining.

I might be talked out of it now.

The issue is the "Leverage" created by the length of the center post.

Especially bad if kids are playing games as in my experience kids don't just sit at a table, they kneel on chairs or benched and place body weight on edge of table.

There's not enough strength or rigidity on most RV floors to properly support a mount like this. Using two bases will not do anything for the lever moment of the center post other than just focusing movement to a single plane. it would take three or more bases to stop the lever action and then removing the posts from the sockets would probably require a large mallet as you could no longer just twist it out.

There is a "law" that covers the accumulation of "stuff'

Maybe if you used one leg as you pictured and attached the wall edge using a some sort of Z bracket?

That’s a good option. I have to check the table height with the window though. I think the table is above the bottom of the window when it’s up. Interesting idea though that might work.

My other thought is to just find a lighter free standing base that folds up more like the Rubbermaid folding tables and make a new table too.

We actually love our "z-table"! Yes, it takes up some storage space but it is incredibly sturdy and we like to move it outside for good weather use.

I fail the “Z” unfold IQ test every time. It’s takes three cuss words and one back strain each time. Once it is up or down it’s great. It’s the getting there that sucks for me.

After you spill your dinner or drinks because of that shaky pedestal table you'll wish your had your z table back. We had a pedestal table on our pontoon boat and it and the pedestal are somewhere at the bottom of the lake right now after they both got tossed overboard. I know..I shouldn't litter but I did

I hear you, Doc! I have a video of our salesperson showing us how to fold and unfold the z-table. I've committed the visual to memory so I usually remember what to do. Only problem is the growing lack of memory "space"!
