Awning cleaning

Hi folks,
I saw some videos about how to clean the awning easily by mixing water and bleach, and then rolling it up for a while.
My question is if the bleach will affect the colors of the awning ?

Thanks
Dre

The underside of my 21 ft awning is white. I use a garden sprayer to spray it with a 50/50 bleach water mix. As soon as the entire underside is sprayed use a soft brush (on a pole) I apply heavy mix of Dawn detergent then hose it off. Let it air dry.

Then, using the same method clean the top side. It is colored a gradient charcoal gray and the bleach mix has never affected the color. After three years of use and probably 8 to 10 cleanings it still looks brand new.

We did the bleach solution and roll it up technique last year. As I recall, it was less than 50..50. More like 75..25. Worked well and no fading.

Is this safe to use on rubber roof?

Google "the 2 beer method" for awning cleaning. Some friends of mine swear by it .

Here is the reply I received "Yes, Spray & Forget will work on all of this surface. Spray & Forget does not contain any harmful bleaching agents, like chlorine or bleach, and is not caustic, like sodium hydroxide"

I was thinking more along the lines of drink 2 beers and you won't care anymore if its moldy...but this is close except it gets cleaned.

That is what I thought but the forms I got sent to me came straight from forest river. If you call TJ snuggles they say mild dish soap like dawn or ivory and oxy clean.

I’ve been using bleach on four different awnings over the past 25 years with no problems at all. Our LQ Horse trailer is 11 years old with hundreds of days parked with the awning out at rodeos and other horse events. That’s about as harsh and dirty of an environment for an awning you’ll find. The (original) awning is cleaned at least every six weeks with the bleach mix/Dawn method and still looks new. But, it, along with the entire trailer, gets a thorough clear water wash down every time it comes home from an event (6-8 per month).

I believe the key to using the bleach is not letting it get dry before it is brushed off with Dawn.

Isn't the title of the thread about awnings, not the bunk end canvas?
TJ Snuggles doesn't make the awning material, they make the canvas tent ends.

I've used cleaners with bleach on my awnings, with no problems.
