Broken exterior front trim

Any thoughts on how to replace the broken front trim on my 2018 Shamrock 233s? The picture shows the broken trim on the driver side of the TT. I might try the mfg too, but unsure of what the part is called.

I called the dealer and they said they couldn't help. I have the piece which broke off, and I might try super gluing it back on but not holding out much hope for that route.

Thoughts on how important to fix? I assume it provides some protection to the front underbelly.

There was some damage to our Flagstaff Super Lite fender and aluminum skirt between steps and fender. I purchased both from Forest River parts department. They were able to look up the parts by my VIN.

You could send a photo and VIN. They can look it up. This is the email to the person that took care of my parts; bsutterby@forestriverinc.com

I just replaced that exact trim piece last month. In fact I also had to order the rolled aluminum piece that is along the side adjacent to the plastic piece. I contacted Forest River via their website and left an inquiry. Within 48 hours they contacted me and requested VIN and photos of what I needed. They sent me a quote and I placed the order. I was very impressed with the service, accuracy and follow-up.

Sad your dealer won't help!

Call FR directly, they are a PERFECT help I just had to replace the door side one on our ROO and those pieces are like $35 or so +/- you are looking for the "Corner Cap" is the piece by name, I'll post my price quotes below.

Here is who you call....
Britney Sutterby
Parts Specialist, Plant 10A
Tent Campers & Hardsides
Office: (574)-642-8943 | Direct: (574)-642-8963

They are a GREAT source just be ready to covert your "Driver Side/Passenger Side" thinking to "Door Side/Off-Door Side" because that is how they consider their parts. ODS (Off Door Side) will be the passenger side so that should be the one you are looking for... give Britney your VIN and she will do a WONDERFUL job taking care of you. They generate an order then have you call in once they get the ticker created to give a credit card number to the Payments team and POOF... a short time later a box is delivered to your front door!

Here was my rig price quotes...
Here you go!
F100054267- CORNER CAP - PFL: FRONT, ODS - GUNSMOKE - V# TS1319GS
Cost:$33.20
F100054266- CORNER CAP - PFL: FRONT, DS - GUNSMOKE - V# TS1320GS
Cost:$33.20
+S&H to which we cannot estimate

Good luck, and fwiw... it is a SUPER easy change out! I removed all the screws, carefully pried my old remnants off.. cleaned the surface best I could, used the old to identify where to drill holes in the new unit so I could replace screws in exact same space. There is double faced tape on the part when you get it, peel the paper from it, stick it in place, put screws back and use some good RV sealant to run a bead along top and seal it from water.... I took my time being careful and anal about clean/lineup and I think I was done in under 20 minutes even doing that!

Thank you, ebemis for the helpful and thorough reply. You guys are great. I wish my corner cap was that cheap...Morgan at FR quoted me about 4x that price. Anyway, I'll follow your advice on removal/install.
F100054235 - CORNER CAP - 1D-27: FRONT, ODS - MOCHA - V# TS1319M; cost of $127.80 each (this is for the off-door side)

sad cost story for sure!!

YES... the FR folks change so you may find each call over years you get different folks who handle things but worse yet is it seems like the older your rig or part needed it seems like the price goes up. I am sure they don't carry too many pieces/parts for more than maybe 4-5 years or so as it wouldn't seem cost effective. BUT EGADS MAN.... triple digit price on a flimsy piece of plastic, REALLY???!!! CRAP THAT BITES!

At your quoted price... it MIGHT be worth a test/attempt to see if you can buy some of that thin aluminum/diamond plate at a Hardware store to shape/form your own skirts instead. EVEN IF you don't make the exact same shape...at least it would be sturdier than that think plastic FR provides. What is there from OEM looks great when new, but a few years of sunshine and highway driving and they are like ticking time bombs just WAITING to separate and be left on the side of the highway unfortunately!

OF COURSE.. if you DO make your own, post pics here as i'm sure my next go-round I'll probably be hit with the same price point! ;-)

WAIT ONE Ckeran!....

If your not opposed to the color change, I wonder if you could just order the ones for my rig which are the Gunsmoke Color for BOTH sides...you would still come out CHEAPER than a single side at 4x the cost!

Just a thought if your not opposed to Nascar Tape Colors that is ;-)

The TT is a 2018 model, but I am gonna try the diamond plate route as I'm guessing the plastic part would likely bust again. Thanks again, @ebemis. I'll post pics when I do.

Fixed

So, as the pic shows, I'm trying a piece of rubber instead. I used double-sided foam tape along the edges where the screws are. I still need to seal it all, and we'll see if this holds up. Thanks again, all, for the thoughts and suggestions.

Cost:
$25 for the diamond plate rubber matt (3'x4' so a lot left over)
$10 for the 3m tape
$??? for the RV sealant (still need to get some)

Looks Cool

Interesting solution!!

I wonder if the rubber will actually provide a method that IF a rock or some sort of debris gets kicked up at it, instead of a plastic fracture the rubber will act more like a mud flap and just deflect and delete energy from the object causing it to simply fall down to the road surface?

It will be interesting to see how your solution holds up to time/miles so I hope you post back here as you discover its robustness or not!

Regards,
Ed

Will it stand up?

Yes, I'm sure it will act to absorb and deflect, but I have no idea (yet) how it will stand up to wind from the back/side of camper (while stationary), nor while it is traveling. But, we'll see...next year... as I'll be storing it for the winter (MN).

Sad Day!

Storing for winter always a sad day in camping terms!! :-(

We are still rocking the mid to hi 80's down here in Central Fla...you COULD always drive PAST your storage place and just keep heading south! ;-)

Sad day no doubt. Fortunately, I put in a parking pad beside my garage to store it, but yeah, better yet would be to drive way down south! Planning to do so in a few short years when we retire.

I have the same issue. My unit is a 2018 ROO 21SS. The same right corner is damaged. Was driving down the highway, looked in my mirror and the thing was flopping in the wind. I’ll contact FR and have them ship me the part(s)

Please let us know what they charge you. I have two broken on my 2018 21SS.

I have seriously considered using something else as I feel replacing will only lead to a repeat. I have no marks on my broken pieces and my truck has extra large and long mud flaps so I have to wonder why they are both cracked starting at the inside top edge....
