broken screen door handle

Help! We have had our Roo 183 for 4 seasons now and the latch/handle for the screen door broke. It was very flimsy plastic and we were very gentle with it to avoid this very issue. We went to the RV dealer to get a new handle and they informed us the handle was discontinued and there was not a similar one to replace it with. Yikes! Has anyone recently encountered this problem? I did try searching the forum and could not find a similar situation.

Camping world is supposed to have these. Made of metal instead of plastic.

See if this is the replacement part you need for your screen door. We broke ours too. Easy to replace and I ordered two so we have a spare.

The piece that broke is actually the inside door handle. Any thoughts? I have tried looking and am not able to find this handle.

Ours broke about four months ago. There are plenty of replacements for the outside handle, but none for the inside handle. (Which is the part we broke). The long plastic piece that trips the outside handle is usually the part that breaks. Called Forest River parts line and a replacement does not exist. The screen door was made by Atwood. Called them and they don't have a replacement either. The new model trailers use a different screen door. Everyone's suggestion was the same , "from the inside open the little sliding door and push the outside handle down to unlatch". This solution gets real old real fast. If anyone comes up with a solution, let me know.

This is exactly what happened to us! Yes, opening the little slide door is OLD!

Our handle is the same.
The grandkids broke our handle last month. The dealer we got our trailer from had lots of those in stock. Only problem is you have to buy the whole kit, inside and out and they charge $29.00

Broken Screendoor Handle

I would call FASTEC Industrial (800) 837-2505. They were very helpful when I needed some RV door parts.
Good luck,

Mine broke two weeks ago while we were out west on a six week trip. I went to several dealers with no luck. Got home and drilled a couple of holes in each end of the broken plastic piece put in two finish nails and super glued it back together. Seems to work fine and is ten times stronger then before

Ours broke on the first camping trip this season. I just made an aluminum one at work that looks exactly like the origional and it works the same. Should not have that problem again.

Some people are indicating they found a replacement at Camping World. Their replacements are the outside handle, not the inside handle. They are different pieces entirely. They have no substitute for the inside handle. I've already had numerous conversations with them regarding the inside handle.

Hockeymom, have you found a repair part for your screen door handle yet? I may be able to help you out with this if you have not.

I could use the info also. The out side handle I bought is not compatible with the inside side. I need the outside handle that works with the new outside.or the complete assembly.

wnelsonfl, are you looking for the inside handle like the one that hockeymom pictured? I made 4 more out of aluminum today and could send you one.
