Bunk ends pooling water while being stored

The last two times we have opened our bunkend their is tons of water pooling on the canvas when we open the bunkends. We take extra caution to make sure their is no canvas in the way when we close. It's just one bunk end. Is this a warranty issue?

I've also seen that the last few times I've opened my bunk ends. I assumed it was from me washing the camper and driving water into that area... but now I'm not so sure... I too would like to hear from the experts.

I've found that the weather-proofing strip around the frame becomes detached or otherwise ineffective. Check it out at all points, especially at the corner joints. It must adhere tightly to the camper fall to create a continuous seal that and presses tightly to the bunk door, or water can get in.

Even that's an improvement. Older models didn't have the bottom edge of the tent connected tio the door frame. It just wrapped under it with elastic like old pop-up campers did. In that case, intruding water got into the wall and floor, causing rot.

Check the latches to make sure they're applying enough pressure. You can close a piece of paper (dollar bill) in the door at the center of the seal. When the door is properly closed and latched, pull the paper out. If it slips right out, you probably need more pressure.
You didn't say what year you're trailer is, but if it has the new style latches, do a Google search for "roto vise adjustment" and you should find adjustment instructions. (or, do a search on this forum)

Start there, if adjustments don't fix the issue, you can add a gutter or it may be a problem with your seals.

Latch adjustments fixed the small leaks I had with my 2016 Roo 183.

Thanks! It's a 2016. I will look up the videos to see how to adjust them!

Not sure if you'll find a video, but the instructions are pretty easy to follow.

Don't replace the seals until you first try adjusting the latches. They're meant to be adjustable and it's quick and easy to do.

Just make sure you heed the warning in the instructions and don't over tighten them.

We had the dealer add a small gutter above each bunkend. We are in our fourth season and no water yet.

Probably jinxed us with the last comment.

Bunk end seal

Clean the bunk frame and the rubber seal, then spray the seal with silicone oil spray.
Do that twice a year.
That way the seal work better.

We added gutters over both ends and that seems to have solved that issue for us

x3 on Gutters

I added gutters to mine. The tiny gutter that came with it was a joke. Seals are still needed, but keeping major water off the seal is important.

I took a good look at mine last night. Mine has gutters from the factory, but as I inspected the bunk ends, I could see a half inch gap at the top... I need to adjust my latches ASAP...
