Bunk fan electric outlet

Hello Friends,

I have a new 2019 Rockwood Roo 233s and this weekend a minor repair was done by the dealership one one of the bunk ends along with tightening up one of the small electric outlets that is over the bunk beds that you plug in the bunk fan/lights. This particular electrical plug in/oulet was working fine before I dropped it off -it was just loose and I could not tighten it up via the screw.

After picking up the unit and taking it out the first night all the bunk lights turn on but the bunk fans do not operate Also the charging station /plug ins underneath the tv do not charge my phones, accessories anymore.

The dealer did tighten up the loose plug in above the bunk...so I am assuming whatever they did caused this problem. All the bunk fans were working before service was done. I thought it might be an electrical issue at the park I was staying but I tested the bunk fans again at home and they still do not work. All other components are working..coffeemaker, AC, microwave etc...

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem as I do not want to make another 3 hr drive to the dealer again?

By the way our family loves the roo..it just helps to have a little circulation of air from the bunk fans at nite.

Thanks

I looked in the electrical panel..how would I know if the fuse was blown?

I thought a light indicator or something would be visible in the panel if that was the case but could be wrong??

If the light works, I would think the fan should work. I'm pretty sure that there are NOT two separate power supplies to the jack. If I recall on my 2012 Roo, the jacks were basically the old mono style headphone jacks, like the one on the left, below.

With only two contacts, +12VDC is supplied to the tip, goes through the light and fan, and returns to the ground.

I know some people were having trouble with their fans crapping out, but haven't seen anyone complaining about them for 3 or 4 years.

They’ve moved from the 1/4” plug jack to more of a 12V DC power plug style on the newer Roos. So there is only a single positive and negative connection at the jack and on the plug.

If the light works bad not the fan, I’m wondering if it’s a voltage thing? An LED would take a lot less power to work than a 12V fan would. What are you getting for voltage on the plug if you test with a multimeter?

My wife hit our bunk light several times on our first trip getting in and out of bed so I had to remount the jack. There’s not much to it, and it’s not screwed to metal but is there something drawing down your 12V converter? Could they have shorted out that plug they “fixed”?

Weird.....I’d check their work and go from there.

Yes it is weird, I will test with a multimeter and call the dealership back.

Thanks for the help.
