Check your nuts and bolts!

While folding up the beds on my 2016 Roo 183, I heard a slight popping noise and felt something rubbing up against the side of the canvas. I went inside to find that one of the support cables that hold up the bed, along with the metal rod that supports the canvas, had popped out of the bracket.
The nylon nut was obviously loose and just worked itself off of the bolt over time (I threaded it back on for the picture). Sorry for the blurry pic. It was hard to hold the canvas up with one hand and take the pic with the other.

My 80 year old father had been sleeping on that bed the night before, so I am really glad that it didn't let go with him on the bed.

I used a ladder to support that side of the bed (high enough to create slack in the cable) and then crawled inside to reattach the nut and bolt. I then went around to all of the other cables on all three beds and tightened them up a little. They need to be loose enough that the support pole still folds down.

Use this as a friendly reminder to check all of your nuts and bolts every season.

WOWSA!! Close call ;-0

BTW.....

You CAN unzip the screen panels on the outside tent sides and stand on a ladder to reach inside the bunk door and gain access to those ends as well....somewhat easier than crawling onto the bunk and tryin to work under pressure ....don't ask why I know this! ;-)

OH and you can buy the small tubes of blue loctite at the home store to put on the threads before you put them back together, helps to keep them from coming loose again.

I think you can only access the zipper from the inside, but I'll have to look next time. The nylon nuts should stay in place on their own. I just don't think they were screwed on very far from the factory. One of the other beds only had one or two screw threads in the nut.
