Different tires on Roo...

Basic question: 2021 Roo 233s

One tire has a nail in sidewall and needs replacement. It came with 4 Goodyear endurance tires (205/75 14). Those tires are out of stock nation wide until Q1 2021 per local Goodyear store.

Can I replace one tire with Carlisle trailer tire?

sure... make sure it is the same size... did you not already have a spare tire?

If you have the spare on the trailer now... do you feel lucky and drive without a spare until you can get another GY Endurance?

is the GY store a company store or just a dealer? GY owned stores have a better track record getting the Back Ordered tires quicker...

I have the spare on and it did not look like a GY Endurance. I’ll look again when I go back out to the storage facility. I do not feel lucky seeing that I’ve got a nail in the sidewall and this is the third tire from nails on 2 cars and the RV in one season.

I called local Goodyear Auto store and one outside of town. Both had same answer that they’re on back order.

Check out Tire Rack using your zip code. For my area (New England), they're available by mid-October.

A hazard of RV-ing is that many campers use their "work trucks" to tow RVs. Add to that the fact that many campgrounds are off the beaten path a bit (with rougher roads on the way in), and I've collected more than my share of sheetrock and deck screws and nails in both my RV tires and my TV tires.

Sloppy/lazy TV prep obviously threatens the perpetrator's RV tires, too, but most are too lazy to clean out their TV's bed/cargo area, and one thing leads to another. It goes with the territory...sadly.

As for mixing brands of tires, it's not ideal, but it's also not a big deal. Why? There are no driven wheels on a travel trailer or fiver. A slight difference in circumference won't eat up a differential. The worst case scenario is that the slightly larger tire on a trailer will carry a slightly larger portion of the load on that pair (or trio) of axles. Don't worry about it.

realize I am late to the game Docedward but.... if you havent found tires yet.. just type those Goodyears in a Google search and when you find the "2pack" at Walmart you will have what you want quickly delivered right to your front door. Worked great for me!

I had the same issue, bought 4 GY Endurance on my Roo 19 last year. Got a nail in the sidewall in northern Minnesota this summer. When I got home to replace the GY tire the said the same thing! None until next year(damn 2020!)! I fortunately, found our local Fleet Farm in Appleton WI had a stash of them! Look at your local stores they may just have a set or at least one.

Finishing this story: the spare is a China Bomb (I know all the tires now are made in China but this one had the Dollar General look of a bike tire). I bought the Carlisle tire and the thing about it is I now realize is had a slow leak in that tire since I bought the trailer in July. The TST Tire monitor system is great that came with the Roo and it was what warned me that the leak had progressed. No issues >1000 miles later.

The $500 tire warranty has a $200 deductible. Ha! Never knew that. Have to blow out three tires to make it worth more than a happy meal.
