***UPDATE****

Picked up from u Haul yesterday......They put a new 7way connector with a 4 way on the side of it($26.99).....fixed my rats nest under the truck where someone spliced in a 4 way into the 7 way wiring harness......mounted the brake controller.....ran wire for it......used a FORD connector to the brake controller( $6.99).....and tested EVERYTHING!!!!!!.....

$55.99 out the door !!!!!!!!!....wow

was expecting to pay at least $150 for that.

VERY happy!!!!!

hooked up the camper and adjusted brakes after I got home.

Doing the Happy dance!!!

Good job!! Since there is also a potential liability issue if you had an accident without brakes, this was a very good idea. Ford does make it easy. I changed my 2001 F150 from a 4 pin to to 4/7 pin. Easy plug and play. All the wiring was already there for a 7 pin.

Anyway, good job!!

P.S. You might want to check and see if the relay and fuse are in place in your fuse box for the "hot" wire that provides 12V to the trailer. For whatever reason, these are typically not installed at the factory. This allows you to charge the trailer battery while towing. If you have a 3-way fridg, it will also allow you to run the fridg with truck power while towing. Our pop-up had one of those and it was handy. Our Surveyor is only 2-way though so we have to use the propane while towing.
