After towing six seasons with our 2001 Ford E150 Chateau (aka the Red Rocker) we decided the time was right to change vehicles. In early January we bought this new-to-us 2008 Chevy Express Explorer Conversion (aka Big Pimpin') It's on the 3500 chassis with the 6.0L. We just returned from our maiden voyage with a round trip from Cincinnati, OH to Cicero, IN for a nearby soccer tourney. Thankfully, an uneventful trip. Towing (and stopping) with the van was great and besides a stubborn propane system (possibly a future thread), the Roo was ready to camp. I will also say that if you ever find yourself looking for a campground in Cicero, IN, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to White River Campground. Nice, small place and all the locals were friendly. Happy camping!
We ordered a new 2016 Chevy Express 3500 Extended 15 passenger to tow our 2015 Roo 233S. Van should be here soon. Hopefully, we'll have a similar positive towing experience.

campnwithkids I'm sure it will work out nice. I was concerned about the extra weight of the conversion but that 3500 chassis is rock solid. Ours is a 9 passenger conversion so it should be the same body/chassis as what you're getting. Only sunk down the suspension less than 3/4" without the weight distribution/sway connected. I was pleasantly surprised on how great it towed. Much better than our 1/2 ton van did.
Getting ready to make our first road trip with the new van. Short trip from storage lot to home went fine. Van is a little bouncier than the old Suburban but plenty of power.

I'm surprised more people don't pull with these large vans. The forum is full of people wanting to tow a larger camper with a medium suv, only because they don't want a truck. Looks like a great compromise for those with a larger family.
