Good tape for tear in awning?

I searched and couldn’t find a thread. I have a slight tear in the awning - I used clear gator tape, which isn’t bad, but it’s coming up after a year or so. Any recommendation on brand or type is most appreciated.

Flex Seal tape. I've used it for several repairs and works great. Once you put it on it will never come off. Only problem is I think it comes in only black or white and a bit expensive but well worth the price.

The best awning tape I have used is Incom Manufacturing clear awning repair tape. It lasts forever.

There are lots of articles on the internet about RV awning repairs with methods from taping to sewing on patches.

In my experience, any awning repair will probably only extend it's life slightly, especially if you have UV damage.

Replacing the entire fabric is really not that bad, and is not as expensive as you might think if you shop around. We have done it several times due to sun rot and once a violent blowout. It just takes two people to get the job done.

Good luck!

I used Tear-Aid years ago on a pop-up. I also used it on the seat of my garden tractor. 3 years of me getting on/off and moving around and it is still holding well.

If you use tape to repair a tear or hole it's a good idea to radius the corners with a pair of scissors before applying. Sharp corners tend to lift while radius'd corners will stay flat.

Even if repairing a tear at the edge and wrapping the tape over it, make sure that the corners are rounded for a neater, longer lasting, repair.

Sail boat shops often have sail and spinnaker repair tape. Great quality.
Sail tape is heavy duty while the spinnaker tape is lighter. More flexible . Both have a long life.
