Gutter Insert

The white vinyl insert above the gutter that covers the screw heads disintegrated and was hanging so I had to remove it. Was wondering if it was just decorative or does it protect the screw heads from leaking in which case I should replace it. Click image for larger version

I have lapped a 2 inch wide piece of Eternabond tape from the roof over the edge into the gutter, which will then protect the side seam and seal the screws. Lasts at least ten years with no problems.
I wrote about it here
