Hello from KY

Just purchased a 2022 Shamrock 235s. Looking forward to getting back into camping. My truck is rated at a max tow capacity of 6400 lbs. The UVW of the camper is 5639. Will my truck handle towing my new camper.

IMHO nope. The GVWR of the Shamrock is 6900#. I wouldn't even consider it.

It helps if you provide more information on your truck.

I'm going to guess we have a new Toyota Tacoma driver in our midst.

The Taco's towing capacity (what you can PULL) is getting maxed out, but I'd also be very concerned about the payload (what you can CARRY). Payload is different based on each truck and how it's specced (each additional element of optional equipment reduces payload by the weight of that particular component, so it depends on the trim/equipment level of your particular rig. Sticker on the driver's door will have your payload.

Tongue weight (10-15% of the 235s) takes a big bite out of payload and the 235s is no lightweight.

Generally, I'd say not quite enough truck for that size rig. You could manage it and be overloaded, but that's not a great route to towing safety.

If so, the fantasy dry tongue weight of 738lbs will already exceed the Tacoma's max hitch weight, before you even add the weights of batteries, options, dealer add-ons, water and trailer cargo.

Hello from KY

Welcome to to the site & congrats on your Shamrock. You mentioned getting back to camping, what kind of camping did you do in the past?

Many Thanks

Thank you everyone who took time to reply. Your comments confirmed my concerns. We are now beginning our search for a new vehicle. We have had nothing but good luck with our Toyota products over the years so I am leaning towards a Tundra. Thanks again!

Glad to hear it. You will be MUCH MUCH happier towing a 235S with a Tundra rather than a Taco.

Since you never said anything about what your tow vehicle was, how did Rhumblefish figure it was a Tacoma?

A truck with a towing capacity of 6400 lbs. doesn't leave many possibilities.
