Hot Water Heater

Where is the hot water heater located on the 2020 235S roo? We've had our roo since February of this year and realized we have never drained the heater.

Thanks,

Bob

Look outside for your water heater panel similar to this. It may be painted to match your color scheme.

At the 18:12 mark of his youtube video your water heater access panel seems to be towards the rear side of your slideout....underneath the "Rockwood Roo" name

Don't worry about draining it until you winterize. Unless you need to make some repairs or mods or have undesirable water you want to get rid of.

If you drain it without turning off the 120vAC power you'll burn out heating element faster than you say "poop."

Hard to miss that big door on the side of the trailer. There's probably a switch inside that can be turned off. Mine had a safety clip keeping it off -- electric heat didn't work when I first got the trailer and I was puzzled.

Not necessarily on the newer Suburbans over the last few years. They have changed the electric element so it won't burn out as fast if energized in a dry tank. Suburban sent us an email on it, which you can read in post #6 in this thread

I have a 2019 unit and mine does not have the clip on the switch on the WH. Anyway, as far as the switch goes, I switch it off every time I go to drain the tank and leave it off until the next time we go to use the WH. (Turn on water, fill tank until water comes out vent, turn switch to on)

I do like to drain every time I use it but sometimes I forget. It still amazes me the amount of scale that comes out every time I drain it.

In my 2020 Roo 235S it is under the bath room sink behind the false panel

I think the water in the water heater gets gross really fast without use. I drain it after every trip but I go a month or more often in between trips.
