I think I figured out my leak.

I went to my camper storage because I left one shoe in there from Labor Day There's a Roo parked 3 spots from me. I looked at mine, and I can see the screws along the seal.

And here's my bubbling - sorry it's not the best picture, it's overcast today.


Any thoughts on who I should contact, or is it not their problem? And how should I fix this?

My bubbling is not that bad, my bunk looks just like yours, what year is yours?

I'm really going to need to check my seals after looking at that. Its on the list for tonight.

It's a 2011.

Yes it looks like there isn't a tight seal on that door when it is closed. Definitely could be the source of water. Is the mattress getting wet?

I haven't noticed, we've been in drought conditions this summer and we didn't camp much. BUT when we went camping at Disney in December, we ran into rain in the Smoky's and the mattress was not wet when we stopped for the night. I did slide my hand under the mattress and behind it when I grabbed my shoe and it wasn't wet and it rained heavy last night and light rain on and off today.

Is the screw the big blob almost halfway up the photo? I'm with triguy...will check mine out tonight. I don't recall anything along the seals, but it is worth checking. We've also had the 21ss open and closed during some long overnight rains, and no leaking. (Knocking on Head).

Yes. All the screws are like that on both sides. I'm not sure about the back or side, I didn't think to check since those beds aren't having the issues. I think I may go camping this weekend and get a better look at everything, but our schedule is crazy now with dance and hockey.

the door itself is taking on water.extremely common for the roos.bad engineering.mike englemeyer at forest river helped with my first door on my 09,second door is starting to leak cant get him to call me back.

Anthonymu - yes my 2009 did the same thing in early 2011 so it was still new when we didn't tarp it the second winter and water got in through the top and side of the side bunk door rotted the mattress and flooded the floor and the entire back. Rear bunk leaked as well. It is the way the doors are put on. All 3 doors looked different with the spacing along the bottom hinge area and the bottom corners. Each bunk door seems to be put on different. Mass production / assembly line?

bad design instead of the door being a solid square and the hinge going on seperately it goes on with the bottom section of the doors which leaves it wide open to installer error.it really is an assinine system.it flexes with opening and closing of the door,my family and i play a road game to spot the roo with swollen doors.my oldest is in the lead with 9.lol

Yes I have started to look at others that I see too. A lot of money to spend on a design flaw. I tell everyone I know to never buy a hybrid design. People cannot believe we spent $22,000 for a trailer that is 3 yrs old and we can't use due to mold and water damage. Insurance would not write it off due to the way the water got in. If a tree hit it and water got in then it would have been fine but not due to design flaw. Now stuck in between a dealer that won't replace it or do anything and the factory that tried to fix it but sent it back with visible mold left. Thinking of either walking away from it. Local consumer report has my story so we will see what happens with that.

its not really the hybrid design its forest rivers take on it.i had a 2000 jayco kiwi doors were solid as the day is long only time i had a leak was when the factory caulk dried.the real b***h is that fr knew about the problem for years and kept churning out campers by the hundreds.they show great are not too expensive but damn this is a problem.if i could afford i would get rid of it and pay the premium for a jayco.yes i know they have problems too but fr has just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hockeytownmom, are the screws positioned too close to the edge of the seal or just not flush to the surface of the frame? I have the same issue with one or two screws along the top of my front bed door. The screw was not put in straight so the head of the screw prevents the edge seal from fully contacting the door frame. Not a great design. All they had to do was move the screws in so they aren't under the seal or at least put them all in straight so the seal can do its job.

I haven't had a chance to really look at what is going on. I need to bring it home and check the screws, see if they can be tightened. I want to call FR, the other two bunks aren't having any issues. I need to know the cost of a new bunk, see if they'll do anything - doubtful, I know, but I have to try. Honestly, I'm kicking myself in the ass for not buying a regular hard side travel trailer. I've only had my Roo since March 2011. This is crap.

the screws around the perimeter of the frame are sometimes the cause of leaks inside the camper.the issue that i have always had is the actual door itself is not water tite.this allows the wood inside the door to swell and cause the door to rot from the inside out.my dealer got rid of the cheap white rubber weatherstripping and installed d shaped weatherstripping similar to older style hybrids they said thats what fr told them to do when replacing the door.

they should replace your door they did my front and back on my roo 19 and i bought it used.574-642-2640 ask for mike englemeyer make sure you have your vin # maybe he can help if you can get him on the phone.

FR is sending new "seal kits" with new bed door cores. I wonder if those kits include the D shaped seals.

I am just shaking my head as I am reading your posts fellow Roo owners. It actually was acceptable for workers at the factory to put the screws in a place where it would prevent your bunk door from sealing properly? Unbelievable. I guess I am not the only one. I am still amazed that the worker the worked to restore our rotten unit actually out moldy wood back into our trailer and sent it back to us with a half assed job done. Is there no quality control on the assembly line? Are they getting paid at a "per piece" rate? I just shake my head in disbelief that we the consumers are paying for this type of shoddy workmanship.

So what does everyone else's seals look like? You guys said you'd check yours but didn't post your findings! lol Where did all the '11 owners go? I'm really interested to see what there's look like.
