Insurance Rates

I just called USAA to get a quote, as we're working the numbers right now trying to figure out how much a month a Roo is going to cost us. The quote seems kind of high from what I've read others paying, but not sureif it's apples to apples.

For the year, both cover full replacement value, $10k bodily injury and $5k personal possessions

$500 deductible $1328 for the year
$1k deductible $1104 for the year

We have our home owners and auto through them and the rates dropped on both when we switched over to them. So I don't think they're trying to gouge us. So are the people stating they pay $300 a year just blowing smoke?

Seems high, we have progressive and I think it is much lower. More around 600 for a year. Maybe get quotes from several places. I know when we added our Roo we switched from state farm because they were so high.

I was in the same boat. Bought mine about 2 months ago. They go throuvh progressive and offer a "military discount..." Bottom line i called progressive directly after and my quote was 200 cheaper with progressive directly rather than using progressive through usaa.

Insurance Rates

Seems high but it really does depend on where you are located and where you store the TT. Here is what we pay through State Farm in Wisconsin. For a 183 model. I would maybe call around and see what else you can find or if that is really the going rate for your area.

Make sure they aren't pawning you off on Progressive. USAA will insure non motorized RVs internally but you HAVE to talk to a person to make sure they do this. My trailer is insured through USAA.

I messed up my first year and had Progressive for a LOT more because I didn't know any better.

For my trailer in my sig, my coverage costs $124/year. $1000 deductibles.

If you have your homeowners insurance thru USAA your contents are covered by your homeowners policy...

All I carry on our R-Pod is Collision and Comprehensive. It runs about $200 a year with $500 deductibles on both.

They didn't send you off to Progressive did they?

Aha, they did. Just got a follow up email from progressive. I even called the number off USAA website, no transfers or anything. Maybe I'll try the number for auto then ask nicely not to be transferred.

Just make sure they know this is a trailer and not a powered RV.

+1... They are trained to send any questionable requests off to Progressive. Make sure they understand you have a TT and that you know USAA insures them. When I bought our R-Pod the first agent transferred me before I could say anything. The second agent did a much better job...

That is just ridiculously high for a 2013 model of that trailer.

This is a valid point but I would hope that once the VIN is entered they would know what it is that is being insured but then again You never know.

My bad, that also includes the horse trailer. The TT is $344/yr and $250 of that is comprehensive coverage. Can’t really complain, that’s not much money in the grand scheme.

I am a firm believer in high deductibles. My $1000 deductible policy is around $72 for the comprehensive. I can't even remember the last time I needed to make a comprehensive claim on anything.

Well I got through and spoke directly to a USAA agent... They said to add it to my auto policy (we've got homeowners and auto through them) with $500 comp/collision deductibles it would raise our monthly payment a whopping $1.48?!?!

That can't be right can it?
