Jack knife sofa in 2016 Roo 233s

I recently saw a walkthrough video on Youtube on a 2017 Roo 233s. In the video, the guy showed how after you lay the jack knife sofa flat, you can lift the one portion to expose the hot water heater valves and basement storage area on that side.

Since my Roo is now winterized, and I won't be back to see it until 4/7, does anyone know if this is also true for the 2016 model as well? If it is, I am going to kick myself, because I had to access the HW heater valves through the basement storage false panel from the outside. Imagine how much fun that was...

Anyone with a '16 Roo 233s please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Yes you can. My husband accessed it through the sofa when winterizing our 2016. At least it will be easier for you this coming camping season?!?! [emoji3] [emoji3]

Mine is a 2013 and its the same...simply have the back (jackknife) down flat then put your hand on the edge of the seat cushion against the wall and lift....it will "roll/hinge" right back at you and presto-change-oh you are staring inside the storage area and RIGHT AT the Hot Water Heater valves!

Just a note on that. I have found that it is best to have the front bunk open when you lay down the sofa to do that. Left the bunk closed one time & scuffed the back side of the mattress while swinging the sofa back over.

Sorry to say but yes, I accessed my hot water tank this way on my 2016 233s. If it makes you feel better I found it out myself as the dealer walk through told me to access the tank the way you did.... [emoji12]

Hey Tizzards,

I don't feel so bad now!! LOL!!

The dealer didn't even tell me about the sofa trick on the walk through.

We just narrowed down where the valves were based on the location of the HWH...sheesh!!

Gotta love those dealers sometimes...

My 2013 roo 233s does as well. You cant trust the walk through from the dealer. I think those people don;t know half the stuff the trailer can do as the owners themselves. I really think doing a full walk-through from someone on you tube before doing your walk through is a better idea. those people usually own the trailer and will give you much more details...... I wonder if there is one of mine online. I could do my own video....hmmmmm

I got a half ***** walk through from my dealer. It only lasted a half an hour. We had to ask more questions than the info that he voluntarily gave. Luckily, my boyfriend and I have have enough common sense to figure a lot of stuff out.

If I never saw that video about the soda, I would have never known about it opening to reveal the HWH valves.

Thank god for forums and people like you guys!!

I also have a 2016 233S and you can access the water heater from the bench couch. Sorry you went through the panel!
