Just about ready

Finally picked up our Roo 24WS upgrading from a 2011 Jayco X18D. We are pretty excited about getting up into the mountains to get out of the heat. We had plans to be up in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado this summer but will settle for Arizona high country for the time being.

Today I installed some BAL 23216 Lock-Arm Stabilizing Bars - man what a difference. I also looked under the under carriage cover at the support brackets for the fresh water tanks after reading some of the horror stories. It seems like Rockwood may have listened as they installed several cross support bars perpendicular to the main support brackets. I had intended to bolt up some 1.5 angle iron across but was happy to see that would not be necessary.

I would be interested in any feedback on the 24WS. I love the room, the storage and how well it tows but am curious as to why they discontinued this model.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Hybrids!
Since you live in Arizona, suggest that you get a set of Popup Gizmos and Reflectix as soon a s possible. And hope you ordered the 15k a/c.
The 24WS was an updated version of the 23SS, which was a best seller for over 12 years. They are exactly the same, except for the addition of the wardrobe slideout.

Welcome from Mesa. My 23SS is currently nestled in the pines just south of Flagstaff. I am not sure how close the 23SS and the 24WS are. My kitchen and sofa slide. Also my dinette is on the opposite side. That is a big slide can you get to the back of the camper with it closed? I wish mine had the side windows in the slide.

JPin,

Yes you can access everything. Dinette and sofa/sleeper are in the slideout. Will be going up in a week or so SE of Flag. Looking forward to cooler weather.

You will probably love the 24WS. Especially all the floor space and seating on those rainy and mosquito dense nights when you can't be outdoors.

It appears floor plans sometimes change just to change. The 23SS, in it's earliest configuration (which we own) remains our favorite and lack of it in the current model line is keeping our early-2006 model on the road. The 23SS went thru several subtle changes through it's production life.

The 24WS seems to have been the replacement for the 23SS with a wider aisle to the rear bed (slide out closet) but with the dinette and sofa on the slide rather than the galley. Probably simplified the plumbing but we prefer the sofa and dinette on opposite sides of the cabin as she uses the dinette as a desk in the evening (she never stops working!) and I read on the sofa on the opposite side of the trailer. Purely personal preferences.

JPin AZ,

Nice! We will be up around forrest service road 124 south of Mormon Lake.

I tow with a 2019 RAM 1500. Have e2 10k hitch.

Bought the Roo in Salt Lake in Jan, was to have picked it up in early April then Covid happened. Towed really well.

Thanks Chuck! This is so much bigger than our Jayco. Still have empty drawers and cabinets. We only had the dinnett as a sitting space before so having the couch will be a bonus and am sure will get a lot of use.

We are going on the 3rd season in our 24ws and still love it as much as we did the first trip!!

Starting to see some little things wear here and there but nothing too out of the ordinary or unexpected. We love the layout, the colors and the room. The only things I would have changed if I had to go back again was to buy the hide-a-bed for those times I want to stretch out and watch TV (Sales guy talked us out of it) and I wish we had known the later model ‘19s would have the larger tanks, enclosed underbelly and stone guard on the front. None are deal breakers but I’d be more apt to boondock if I had more water available.

In fact I’m writing this from the dining room table currently in a trip

That is awesome to hear that you still love yours. We primarily boondock and have never had a TV so love the idea of reclining in the sofa sleeper but will either need to replace with a 12v tv or install an inverter for when off the grid and weather keeps us indoors. The fresh water tank is about double what we had before but I expect we may still bring additional jugs as I just retired and plan on spending more than just a couple days in the mountains. Can't wait to get it up there.

I had a dual 12v battery setup and a 150w inverter, in my Roo 23SS. No problems watching the tv.

I have dual batteries. Where did you mount the inverter?

Didn't mount it anywhere. It sits in the cabinet over the tv, where the 12v outlet and antenna/cable connections plate is.
