Ive got a 2017 Shamrock 233s. I use the Anderson levelers. They work awesome. Ive only been to one place where they didn't work so hot and I was setting up on grass, and it had just rained so the ground was muddy and they just sunk in. You have to trim them to fit though. The Andersons should have come with instructions for trimming them. I had to cut mine back to almost the second hole, and I had to trim the bottom corner of the fat end at a 45º. There have been other threads started on the topic.

Before our rig with level up we tried several of the levelling doodads like you mentioned. We always came back to using three 5' boards with a 45 degree angle cut on one end. 2 - 2x6 and 1 - 1x6. Handled every levelling job we came across very simply. And if they didn't, it was time to move as the site was too unlevel Have fun!!

Andersen Levelers are great, ..... yes with close axles we had to trim them(as instructed by the company), but they are one doodad that has not failed us,.... I've been at some sites where, if I moved my trailer 5' forward or 5' backward the leveling amount needed could be totally different,... but the call is yours, hope you find a system that works best for you.......

Yep, Anderson levelers are great, easy, and store well. We just didn't trust them after they discolored and surface cracked in the sun over time. And you are over thinking the 5' thing. You put your rig where you want it, look at your bubble levels to see how many inches you are off, pull up 5', place the board(s), back up 5'. . But the easiest thing is the level up system. Every new rig of ours will have that!!!

I'm sure the level up system is great but I haven't seen a hybrid trailer yet that offers it as an option.

And I can buy at least 100 sets of Anderson levelers for the price of the level up and they are much lighter.

.

And you can also buy at least 3 sets of boards for 1 Andersen kit. What's your point?

This is what we did to ours for our ML23fb, works great.
The instructions mention you can trim up to the first hole (as seen in pic) without any issues.

we use the Andersons, but we still use a board under them to keep them from sinking into mud or gravel. we've had a few places that we had a hard time with them fitting but after we started using a board (2x10) we don't have a problem

we use the andersons and also use x chocks that fit between the tires and tighten to keep the tired from moving. we found out the hard way that the plastic chocks don't keep a camper from rolling.

I have plenty of room in the bed on my pickup to be able to take 2-3 five foot long boards. The only negative with wooden boards is that they get a bit wet and dirty if it rains. The Andersen Levelers cost CDN$116 for two sets (for a dual axle camper) up here in Canada. It's just not worth it for me and I don't recall ever seeing someone up here using them.

What's the minimum thickness after you cut it? Have you encountered a situation where you needed it thinner?

I think the Anderson leveler was close to 3/8" at the thin end before trimming. After trimming it it was right around 3/4" thick or maybe closer to 1" at the thin end. Ive never had a situation where I needed less than that when leveling.

Wooden levelers

My mentor recommend that I use wooden 2 x 8 (8” long) and 1 x 8 (8“long) cut at 45 degree on one end to use as leveling blocks. They can be stacked or used singularly as needed. I carry two of the 2” and two of the 1”.
After checking to see if the unit is level, either move the unit back or forward (not both) about 8 inches. Then place the estimated height (1, 2 or, 3 inch) of wood needed to level the unit in front of the tires on the “low” side. Then pull the unit forward up the 45 degree end just enough to have low side tires on the wooden pieces. I would recommend not stacking more than two of the pieces. Before cutting them to length, measure (before any trip) the space between the tires at ground level. Cut them a little shorter so they will fit between the tires.

They have functioned just fine for 10 years. They are stored in a "gym Bag" when not on the ground.

If you have a friend with a band saw, just trim them to fit--do both so you don't have to figure which is which when you are setting up in the dark.
