Mirrors for truck
Hey everyone. Just a question. What is the best type of add on extension mirrors that would be available for my 2009 Silverado. What products would you recommend?

I bought the Cipa mirrors that slip over my 2001 Silverado mirrors. They work well & are very stable with no vibration. Here is the website for Cipa. Look at the custom mirrors to find what will work with your truck. CIPA-USA - Your one-stop source for mirrors and aftermarket accessories

I had a set of CIPA slip on mirrors I used for about two trips on my Ram 1500. The vibration was so bad that they were useless when in motion.
I installed a factory set of towing mirrors after that.

Factory towing mirrors are the best but I used the slip on CIPA mirrors on my sister's Yukon and was happy.

Ditto on my Ram used the slip ons one time and got the factory power, heated tow mirrors. Hard to beat OEM fit and finish but more costly. I believe the Chevys use a telescopic design and have an integrated turn signals and would be about 300 bucks.

I bought a Reese clip on and a Tow-n-Flat from Walmart. I have not yet installed them but bought one of each to see which one fit the best. I will do so this weekend as I pick up my new TT and report back.

I had a set of McKesh mirrors with the round add-on mirrors on each side and they worked great. I didn't get rid of them until I got a new truck with factory tow mirrors.
Absolutely no vibes or movement at any speed (that I towed at anyway).

I use the CIPA slide-on mirrors and they're great. They look OEM on my '11 F-150.
I caught Bentley enjoying the breeze as we were leaving Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park this past February.

I bought a set of clip-on mirrors from Canadian Tire that are made for our trucks. Sorry, I don't remember the name of them. My mirrors are in the trailer that is still in storage so I can't get any pictures of them. When on the truck travelling they don't vibrate and when we get to the campsite they come off real easy.

Murray10, Bite the bullet and get factory OEM style tow mirrors. You can get a good set on ebay. I have tried all of the ones mentioned and a couple that haven't been mentioned and the factory mirrors are the best. Just put the mirror selector switch in the middle, press the button and the mirrors go out/in. Don't have to stow them or anything.

These look great. How do they install? By the looks of the manufacturer's instructions some base stays on your mirror at all times. I would only want the mirror on while towing and not permanently. Am I correct on my thoughts?

Murray10, another happy CIPA customer here. The mirrors that I have are completely removable, no permanent base.
And yes, as good as these mirrors are, nothing can beat the factory installed units. A note to anyone buying a new truck, --- you can negotiate a much better price for towing mirrors before delivery rather than after the fact.

Yes, the best towing mirrors are the OEM telescopic ones. I opted to not get them because we only go camping once or twice a month and my truck is also my daily driver and I didn't like the look of the giant donkey ears.
I am 100% satisfied with the quality and usability of the CIPA slide-ons. No, I don't get as much mirror as the OEM, but its still plenty. They don't shake or come loose like the strap mirrors that I used previously (also CIPA) and they are very easy to put on and take off.
If I were buying another truck today, I would probably get the max-tow package which comes with the donkey ears, but only for the added towing and payload capacity, not the giant mirrors.

Bought a set of CIPA mirrors that were supposed to fit on my '02 Durango and I couldn't get them to fit at all. Then we bought a new to us Ram, which comes equipped with flip up towing mirrors, so we don't need them. Still have them sitting in the house in a box, brand new.

Do the CIPA mirrors damage the exterior of the "regular" mirror? Also has anyone tried the CAMCO Tow-N-See mirrors that anchor to the mirror glass by some kind of suction? They look like they would fall off to me but the DH wanted me to check.
