New 2019 Roo 23IKSS Changes

We're off to Hershey this weekend! We've notified family to come look for us if we don't return! ;-)

I did notice that the latest 2019 23IKSS units have some changes:
  • The one-piece fold-out step instead of electric steps;
  • A diamond plate stone guard on the lower front;
  • New lighter decor options;
  • The "ShowerMi$er" system (pretty cool idea!).
Anyone aware of other changes on the most recent 23IKSS model? Anyone have experience with the one-piece step or the ShowerMi$er?

Thanks in advance,

Theo

As far as I know, NO FR hybrid ever have and I doubt they ever will.

Yup! No electric steps. My bad! Sorry about that.

However, the MORryde-like steps are new. Any feedback about them? They seem fairly easy to handle.

Don't have the MORryde steps but they seem nice. Have seen comments about how far they stick it which can be an issue at rest stops.

If we could get that stone guard ordered and installed on our 2017, I'd be happy as a clam!!

I've contacted FR twice on this, but no answer.

While I went to the one in Timonium MD instead of Hershey PA, I'm very lucky DW did not want to go. She favors the lighter decor so much I'd probably scheduling a PDI. . . And I just added the solar panel on the one we have, I doubt I could get that sucker off without an act of destruction.

We were just informed of the new Roo standards and options by our dealer. It's now on the build sheets:

Standard power awning
Standard Moryde steps
Standard 58 gallon freshwater tank (was 43 gal)
Standard diamond plate on front

Optional American Maple interior ($145)
Interior colors: Chocolate or Pebble
Interior wood: Driftwood(std) or Slatewood ($0)

Base price on the 23BDS we are looking at is now $1500 higher than previous price list. Several dealers have indicated this is due to the new tariffs on overseas imports and materials.

Great news! I'll contact my dealer to see if they have the new price lists yet.

Thanks, azfansinnc!

Best to you! We are pretty certain to be going with an in-stock unit.

Thanks. Scott

The showermiser helps prevent wasted fresh water when one is waiting for the shower water or sink water (sinkmiser is a separate product) to turn hot.

Basically, there is a hand-operated showermiser valve that, when shut, recycles the fresh water from the tank, through the heater, to the showermiser then back to the fresh water tank. The showermiser unit on the shower wall has a visible thermoplastic element that indicates the temperature of the water. When the water is hot, it reacts by turning from solid blue to a striped blue. At that point, you open the hand-operated showermiser valve to direct the flow of hot water into the shower head instead of recycling it back to the fresh water tank.

One can see that you can easily recycle fresh shower water since you don't have to wait for the water to turn hot while it is flowing into a capture bucket for "manual" recycling back to the fresh tank. Worse would be to not capture it at all and have it flow into your gray tank, wasting both fresh water and unnecessarily adding to your gray water tank's level.

The following video is far from a concise explanation of the system, but all the information is there if you have the patience.

The hot water tank on the IKSS is located right next to the shower so there is a very short wait for hot water without the shower mizer although this product should speed it up even more. A mizer for the kitchen sink would be a great idea as the water has further to travel.

I totally agree. My shower doesn’t take long at all before hot water is coming out.

Just contacted my RV dealer. Here is an expanded list of equipment changes for 2019 to update azfansinnc list:
Quote:
-MorRyde Steps standard
-Power awning standard (option in previous years)
-Enclosed underbelly standard
-Upgraded 58 gallon freshwater size
-Front diamond plate added
-Upgraded 22" ovens standard, not an option
-Heated mattresses standard, no longer a forced option
-Upgraded Wifi ranger with LTE capabilities
-Shower miser standard
-360 siphon roof vents for black tanks - evacuates air more efficiently
-Outside grill standard.

And the new color packages. Slatewood and American Maple wood options.
Chocolate and Pebble interior colors. Champagne is now standard and a new
upgraded white/grey fiberglass is now the option.
Note that these changes are "phased-in" on the assembly line. The early 2019s may have only some of these changes. For instance, I have seen some 2019s without the MorRyde steps. If you're looking forward to all these changes, make sure you check everything out.

Showermiser

We have the Showermiser on our '19 2109S.

It works great to save both your fresh water onboard as well as not wasting space in the gray tank waiting for hot water to flow from any of the spigots.

I am wondering about winterizing though, the drain line back to the fresh tank from the showermiser has me concerned...

Should be downhill and no places for water to lay, but I can't be sure.

Would have to get antifreeze in the fresh tank to be sure it is winterized, never thought about that before the Showermiser.

Flushing the fresh tank a few times would probably get it all out... Flushing the system gets it out of the lines when the next season rolls around.

Any ideas??

Thanks!

6Cat, this thread is in the Roo/Shamrock section of the Forum and it's about the new changes in the 23IKSS model.
you need to post this in the TT/5th Wheel section's Rockwood sub-forum.
