New bunk door closures
Went to the Salt Lake RV show yesterday. Got a good look at new attached bunk ends. I've seen those before, but was surprised by the new bunk door closure which is a rod system. The advantage could see was that it would be easier for a shorter person to lock the door closed. My only concern was that it looked like it was made of a plastic compound, even the bracket that was attached to the door. I'd like to hear some input from some of the new owners.

I didn't noticed that while at the RV show last weekend. I was still oooh and ahhh over a 5th wheel and I still can't get it out of my head...

Guess when I go pick mine up at the dealer I will check it out. Maybe I can get some more pics with the door closed.

Are those in lieu of the locks? Or added in addition to the locks to tighten seals?

Just had the factory replace our bunk ends with the newest design last fall. Heard that a new closure system was coming, but we got the original latches. New system look good.

I have a 2013 21SS received on Jan. and have the old style with the latch on top. I guess this system is for the 2014. It looks like it will get an more even seal with closures on the top and bottom.

It doesn't look to me like it latches at the bottom to me. It just looks like there's a handle at the bottom that acuates the latch at the top. Beats having to get up on the A-frame or finding step stool, though.

It does look like there is only one latch located at about the same height on the door as the previous design and they've just lowered the location of the handle. I'm a bit concerned that the new design may direct the pressure from the latch on a narrower area of the seal compared to the previous design.
The only hybrid I'm aware of that has a latch mechanism that applies pressure to the seal at both the top and bottom of the bunk doors is the Keystone Passport Expandable.
Here's a link to a video by RV Wholesalers that shows their bunk latches.
I looked at the Passports before buying my Roo and felt the interior build quality wasn't as good as the Roo. I don't know if the Passport's latch design provides a better seal than the Roo/Shamrock though.
