Inverter and solar are provided with the 12v fridge to provide a sort of juicepack for the 12v (which is an energy hog). Note than you can order the [solar and inverter] ALONE without the 12v fridge, but that option is MORE expensive than the [Solar, Inverter, and 12v fridge - and even the unmentioned solar charge controller]. Why? Because if you don't select the 12v fridge option, you get the two way fridge - which is WAY more expensive than the 12v, and requires more plumbing and additional packaging considerations (gas line, venting, etc). Not sure why the inverter is packaged with the fridge - it's not designed to help the fridge out as much as it is to take 12-volt DC power from the batteries and provide 120-volt AC out to the marked outlets. A power upgrade, as it were.
It MIGHT be a way to provide 120v power out to the smaller fridge in the outdoor kitchen, but I dunno.

It's mounted in the forward pass through compartment, on the driver's side. Not sure which outlets it powers, but they are marked "Inverter" ... like this one, on the forward bulkhead IN the compartment, driver's side. The visible cord/plug is the heated mattress pad being run into that outlet. The bathroom also gets an inverted outlet on the face of the lower cabinet, as does the rear bunk (outlet next to the TV coax connection on the bulkhead that backs up the shower). And, the outdoor kitchen gets one, too.
Some details on the components in our rigs:
The solar unit Rockwood uses in the 235S is the
190w Go Power 190w overlander kit.
The 1000w inverter is made by WFCO and is the 1kW
WF-5110RS
The walkthrough at Haylett (that IBCAMPING is pointing at) is really top notch to show you how it works:
Hope this helps.
