New Roo owners!

Hey fellow Roo owners!

I posted a question about the stock radio in the general area for electronics, but I thought I’d ask here too.

We just bought our first Roo a few days ago and the previous owner removed the stock radio because it wasn’t working. We have a 2001 Rockwood.

Thanks!

Stock radio have never been the best. I would take the measurements and start shopping online.......perhaps a Jensen radio.

That hole probably had a 9x6 Concertone RV unit. Not many of that size to choose from and they will be more expensive than a non-RV replacement.
If I were you, I'd find an automotive replacement.

Awesome! Thanks for your help! A little while ago I did a google image search for our RV + radio and saw that it’s one of those old units with a tape deck! We will start our search for something that will fit in there / work with the speakers. Looking to find something that we can use the speakers as surround sound when we watch TV, if that’s even possible.

I'd shop Ebay's RV area.

Awesome! Thanks!
Saw that the iRV66 is an option. Does that have a good setup?

There's no such thing as a good RV entertainment system.
Don't think any play BluRay discs.

Haha! We used an old PS2 and cheap flat screen in our class C when we had one. It’s was great for on the road entertainment for 3 young boys. Now that it’s just the two of us going our we’re looking for something that’s going to hook into the system we have in the Roo that will give us some options for music, TV/Cable when there’s hookups, and DVD audio for when we’re cozied up on cooler nights at the campground. There is a spot over the fridge for TV placement. Has the cable hookup on the wall next to the door.

surround sound in a hybrid? bit of a stretch...

just get a good stereo radio and hopefully you won't be watching much TV while camping

Yes, we usually don’t. Just upgraded from tent camping, so maybe we’re getting excited about all of the bells and whistles!

Speakers and wires

Edit: I don’t know why the pictures are sideways, I just tried to post them again and it’s all wonky. They uploaded correctly. Sorry!

yours pics are showing fine on my laptop

did you have a question about speakers and wires?

my 2014 also has wires for two outside speakers

my stock radio (IRV66 I think) has 3 zones, inside pair outside pair, and a third pair I added to the front bunk for solo listening late at night.The inputs/outputs of the TV and the stereo really determine what/how you can hook up...

Not really so much of a question, more just showing what we have in case someone else has the same thing and can recommend a good replacement.

I see the speaker wires, old radio antenna, and then a black cable that plugs into something (?).

I replied to your other thread, I didn't see you had one going in the hybrid forum.

I dont know what the 2001 Roo's had in them. My 2017 is equipped with the iRV-34, which is this guy;

https://www.amazon.com/iRV-Technolog.../dp/B07CC5PNDS

Forrest River also uses Furrion Radios in the travel trailers. One of those may fit. I couldn't say without dimensions. www.etrailer.com carries a handfull of RV entertainment centers;

https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-RV_Stereos.aspx

As does Crutchfield;

https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/rv_dvd.html

And, no. None of them have blu-ray. Just about all the RV electronics seem to be way behind the curve.
I won an Xbox one X from that every 60 seconds promo that Mt. Dew was doing last year. The Xbox replaced the PS3 we currently had at the house. The PS3 now resides in the camper. It hooks right up to the iRV through HDMI cables and allows us to watch blu-rays, play games, and stream movies if we can get decent enough wi-fi.

Hope this helps.
