Popup Gizmos

Anyone modify their Pop Up Gizmos? I have the high wind covers, but they come lose in the wind even with many extra clips on the sides. So I was thinking about adding grommets with bungee cords (of some sort) to hold it on like the super high wind covers. I'd prefer not spend $180 for new super high wind covers since I already have these.

I have the super high wind pugs and I don't see why you couldn't modify yours to be something similar.

But, its more than just grommets as you can see in the pic below. The cords transverse the entire width of the cover and so spreads out the stress...

You could also call Bob at PopupGizmos (972-849-9240) and he might have some ideas for the modification. He is very helpful.

I've decided to purchase the super high wind covers (2 of them) and give my in-laws 2 of my high wind covers. The third bunk cover never comes lose, just the front and back.

Good choice! Plus, you score points with the in-laws.

Yeah, and I told them I would get them some for Christmas...they don't camp as much as we do, so the high wind covers will be just fine.

I just ordered Super High Wind Gizmos for my ROO 19. I haven't put them on yet and was wondering if anyone had pictures of how and where they attached the bungie cords on there bunk ends. Were camping this weekend.

Clamp the top on before you open the bunk. If you wait until you drop the bunk to clip them on, you will need 7 foot arms.

Just clamp them up once the bed it set up. Hubs is 6' and uses a small step ladder.

I've only put them on after the bunks were down and also have a small stepladder to help. It can be a bit of a reach if one of the bunks is higher off the ground than normal such as with an uneven site. I'll try attaching with the bunks up the next time that happens.

I put my gizmos on from inside the bunk. I asked Bob from PopUp Gizmos to sew a strip of Velcro onto the top edge of mine. I placed strips of Velcro on the top inside of the bunk door frame, and after opening the bunk door I climb onto the bed and pull the canvas over my head so that I can access the top of the door frame to attach the Velcro. This insures that wind and water does not get between the gizmos and the canvas from the top edge. I have a 2012 21ss so the canvas is not permanently attached to my bunk doors. This method would not work on the newer models where the canvas is attached.

The wife and I installed our popup gizmos for the first time last weekend. The temps were going to reach the upper 80's, lower 90's, so we thought we'd give them a shot. We didn't feel the need to install the gizmos previously until this weekend as our short spring weather here in Texas was wonderful....Key word - was.

At any rate, what a difference!!! My question, how much more does the reflectix assist if I were to install inside?

I'd hate to cave ourselves in but the trade off may be worth it for our summer camping opportunities.

in my opinion, they help a lot, in cold and hot weather. PopupGizmos now sells a wrap-around Reflectix-like product, that looks to be a great thing for really hot places.
we've only put the Reflectix in the bunk end windows and it does help.

We got the super high wind gizmos for our Shamrock and they don't blow off when it's windy but the section right by the trailer will slip down some even with clamps. It's a lot harder to keep them in place on a hybrid than it was on a popup.
