Quieting the water pump

I have had much noise from the water pump. I have put some dense foam under the pump. I want to put a few inches of horizontal pipe on either side of the pump. I have both Red and Blue Pex but I also have a clear white reinforced pipe with a blue stripe. Are they all supposed to be 1/2 inch? It seems the red and blue Pex are smaller than the clear with the blue stripe. Any suggestions would be a great help. My wife sleeps right over the pump!!!!

Since you’ve already put the foam under the pump, the only other thing you can do is to prevent the water lines from vibrating. Secure them however you need to to keep them from vibrating against whatever they’re touching. Maybe use some hot water pipe insulation. All the water piping should be 1/2”. You can also add some extra flexible tube on either side of the pump.

In the case of my pump on a Shockwave T24RQMX, the fix was to replace the factory installed kinked vent hose which then let me fill the FW tanks without them burping water out. The kinked hose would cause the pump to suck air.

My pump was noisy initially. I solved the problem by removing the mounting screws and reinstalling them IN the holes in the isolation bushings. The installer just ran the screws through the rubber itself and essentially locked out any damping function.

I tightened the screws just enough to hold the rubber against the floor and not enough to compress the rubber bushings.

also moved the pump slightly before screwing down so PEX pipe on the outlet didn't vibrate against the cabinet wall like it did from the factory. All I hear now is the slight "groan" of a properly working water pump but not enough to bother anyone.

Pay attention to every hose, connectors, any point that contacts other surfaces. Cover those with foam pipe insulation. If it touches it vibrates and transfers sound.
