Refrigerator Door Open when not being used

In my old Hybrid, there was a stop to keep the door open slightly when it was not being used to prevent odors. Now in the Roo 19, the door closes almost automatically. Should we try to keep the door open when it is not being used and if so, how? Thank you in ad advance.

Any sort of prop. I open the doors completely and never have a problem. If your trailer is slightly nose high the doors should remain open easily.

Our 2007 Dometic fridge only had blue clips to keep the doors slightly open.
You put them in the door latches.

I have the blue clips in my Wildcat (and 2 of the other 3 units I've owned).

Mine close on their own too. I hang a towel and it keeps them open enough to air out.

Your fridge should have come with something to hold the door open. Sounds like your dealer screwed you. What make/model fridge do you have?

As Mr Dan said, most Dometics use these, I believe (my 2012 Roo 19 did; so does my Mini Lite):

Here's a pic of it installed:

Some fridges use something like this:

Mine has a small swing out clip on the latch, they are hard to find and almost hidden, you flip out the catch with your fingernails and it holds the door open just slightly, takes some searching to find it and I do have trouble with the kids pushing the door shut while goofing around in the camper, but I just reset them and it is goid for a while.

CLOSE the door(s)

On both TT and MH, I have never left the doors(s) open. In Texas the doors were kept closed all the time. In Colorado, the doors are kept closed all them time.

HOWEVER, each time before storing, the refrigerator doors were left open long enough for the unit to come up to ambient temperature. The inside was then wiped down with PineSol (dilute in water per instructions), just as a standard cleaning before storing.

I have never had any mold or mildew and the refrigerators have always smelled fresh and clean when taken out of storage.

I always leave mine open. I'm not in the tt and it's not in the way so why not be safe.

We also had a clip that kept doors open but know they often disappear as a dealer may take one from a unit to supply another. The thing is if you leave it clean AND dry you should be okay. We always cleaned our residential refrigerator and left it open for a few days before a military move. We also put in scrunched up newspaper (was recommender) to absorb odors or moisture. Always seemed to work so we did it. Like what was said above I occasionally just hang a towel to keep it open a crack to dry out.

Look in the bag with all of your instructions and trailer manual and the like. Your clip should be in there. I'm in Canada so I use a hockey stick to prop it open.

I always leave the doors open until the inside of the fridge has dried then close it. I found a clip that says Dometic on it in my TT but didn't know what it was for. Thanks to this thread I now know what it is.

When I was in the military and had a household move, I used a cotton sock with several charcoal briquettes ~ always worked great.

Do the same now after we return from a trip. I shut down the fridge, remove all contents ~ place a towel in the freezer and fridge compartments with the doors open. After a day or so, I dry the compartments out with a towel, leave open for another day, double check for any leftover moisture and then leave a small bowl of either baking soda (NOT baking powder) or charcoal briquettes inside.

This seems to work well for me up here in northern Vermont, keep in mind that today it's 53*F and raining ~ the foliage has already started changing colors!! Already, past 2 nights have been in the low 30's ~ Bah Hum Bug!!!

On many of the Dometic units there is a small grey sliding latch/lock under door pull. You open the door maybe 1/4" and slide the latch and it keeps the door just slightly open.

We are beginning to wish for those temps. Here in the NW we have been in the 60's and 70's in the evening with highs in the 90's+. Wildfires all over the place, we are so ready for cold and snow, rain, what ever it takes to stop the fires.

Fridge door open between trips

I use the Domatec clips, but also string a long bungee from the top to the bottom as the clips come off easily

I found the clip just inside of the handle on the edge of the door. Carefully it will close a little and then click in place. I assume you put a little inward pressure on it to take the pressure off to open.
