You're correct, only runs on propane or 110V shore power.

We've gone a whole camping season on one tank of Propane, with the fridge on propane every time.

I have traveled 3 times from Philadelphia to Fl. The only tunnel restriction that I am aware of is the Harbor Tunnel on RT 95 in Baltimore. Had to take Rt 695 loop and use the Francis Scott Key Bridge to go around the Harbor tunnel. Adds about 20 minutes to the ride. After that I went on my way with no more problems on Rt 95. There could be alternative routs, but that is what I did to get around the tunnel. I am sure others will chime in with their specific routs. Have fun.

A lot of RV'ers don't know that Bob. That is a Federal Department of Transportation law. No propane powered appliances in any tunnel, anytime. I would not want to get caught either.

Very simple matter to pull over prior to the tunnel portal and turn off the fridge and turn it back on, on the other side, or in the instance of numerous tunnels on the PA turnpike, leave it off until through all of them and then restart it. Tunnels are clearly marked on every paper road atlas and most GPS units too.

One other thing to think about - stopping for gas. Before pulling into a station turn off the propane, then light again after pulling out. Or at least, keep the exhaust port for the fridge a long way from the pumps. Probably very low probability of trouble, but I wouldn't want to be the one on the nightly news!

I have never ever ever ever turned off a fridge to fuel up. This from a guy that always turns off the car to fuel up even when below zero...

I didn't say that, I said AC (alternating Current - 110v)

Every filling station I've been in always has a sign that says, no smoking or open flame while fueling and turn engine off...

Open flame.. propane fridge...

Last summer we ran 13 nights with frig on propane and did a fair amount of stove top cooking most days and we were still on tank one of two. Ours are 30 lb. 7 gal tanks.

Ditto. We are all LED but unplug rig from TV if stopping overnight and usually throw a wood block on the ground and lift some tongue weight off the truck. Stabilizes the trailer, just enough too.

This depends on the tow vehicle. I have been told that on my Chevy Silverado putting it in tow/haul mode boosts the charge available to the trailer battery.

True, and good safety advice. Still, with all of the RVers on the road who, like me, never think to turn off the fridge when fueling, how many gas station fires have you ever heard of caused by a pilot light?

Quick note on overniting along the way...(and yes...the only tunnel you will have and can't use is the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel as noted above)....
NOT all Walmarts permit overnighting. There is a good free app called AllStays you can get for the phone and you can see which walmarts permit and which do not. Definitely a good choice.
Other free alternatives are almost all Crackerbarrel stores AND all truck stops. Pilot/Flying J has many RV Travel centers that have separate parking areas for the RV's as well as RV fuel lanes and propane and dumps.
Seems like a lot of driving for 2 days...especially since your tires limit you to 60-65mi. per hours ...but the nice thing about a trailer is you can adjust as you need to! Good luck!!

We've done MA to Orlando in 2days pulling a 36' TT last year with no problems and We're doing it again in April. We pull off in rest areas eat, use our bathroom and let the dogs do their business. Sleeping is a close as the nearest permissible Walmart.

I'm doing a longer trip this summer. 3 1/2 days to Yellowstone.

I live in Connecticut and was told that it was illegal to have the propane tank valves open when traveling but that it was legal in Vermont where I bought the unit so it's definitely a state by state thing.

Now I doubt that if you do manage to get pulled over in a state where it may be illegal to have the propane tank valves open that an officer will actually check on that but it's probably a good thing to be aware of.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's DW won't drive with the TT hooked up but I told her this year she is going to do some driving to which she just gave me the look...

good luck!!

From rough mileage estimate driving at 65 (max for tt tires) it will be about 14 hrs per day. Long days looks like. Be safe. Later RJD
