rhino bumper mount tote carrier
Anyone use the rhino bumper mount tote carrier on their roo? I would like to use one of these but not sure if they would fit on the rear bumper and still allow the bunk door to open fully. Cant find the mounted height measurements anywhere. I know it won't open with the rhino mounted, but don't want to take the two carrier arms off every time just to open the bunk door.

I emailed Camco on that exact topic a few months ago. According to them, they measure 25", which is just barely too tall for the Roo hybrid bunks. My 2019 Roo 23BDS has right at 24" between top of bumper and the deployed bunk and it's actually a little less than 24" when in use.
While someone with a shorter tank could probably use it after chopping off an inch or so, I decided not too as my tank is 48" long and the bracket would support less than 1/2 of it. Also, removing that much off would also remove the top strap slot.

Wonder if the horizontal portion of the carrier rails could be mounted UNDER the bumper instead of on top? That's got to lower the top of the rail by ~4", right?
Just spitballing....
Oops! Just realized that with the carrier mounted under the bumper, the tank wouldn't fit between the rails and rest on the bumper.

The shipping box is 27.8 x 20.2 x 1.6 inches and I assume the 27.8" is a bit more than the height above the bumper (the bars will be slightly shorter). I'm in the barn and can't measure.
A 14" spare tire will be approximately 23" - 27" in diameter and looking at a photo of my spare on the bumper puts the bottom of the cover at the bottom of the bumper and the top just below the bed door when open. Also looking at that photo indicates the tank and tire will not both fit back there due to one blocking the rear access door. Pivot mount?
And what Theo said. Mounting the arms under the square bumper will gain 4" of height.
My tote goes in the back of the Expedition when we take it. Also room in the truck for a 35 gallon fresh water tank. We use on our favorite electric only or dry sited. (Rear area of the Expedition is protected by a tray with tall lip to contain any spills.)

My Rhino tank has a ladder mount hook. Didn't even know it was bumper mountable.

Your first consideration should be, how much weight is that bumper going to support. Bumpers on RV trailers are there mostly for looks and are of thin gauge material, they are welded to the trailer frame. I would not attach anything to the bumper without first reinforcing it.

Spare tire and carrier are bumper mounted on the Roos. Empty plastic tote is no more weight than that.

A empty plastic tote is not mounted to a bumper for looks, what kind of weight will the tote contain and will the bumper welds hold would be my question.

The tote tank carrier is to transport the empty tank. You'd need a forklift to put a full tank on that spindly rack.

thanks for the replies. I think I am going to get one, cut off about 2 inches and then reweld the tie loops back on. I have the 28 gallon tote which is 44 inches long. We will see how it goes.

Interested in following your progress. This is the same size tank I am considering.

Had another thought. Might just see how heavy gauge the metal is and drill holes and use U-bolts instead of rewelding. Was looking and it looks like the straps are just keeping the tote stable from moving. Looks like it sits on the bumper and that is where the weight is. So the strap loops don't appear as if they have to be super strong. Just another thought.

okay, it worked. I cut off the strap ring at the top, then cut off 2.5 inches of the support and sanded area down. I rewelded the strap supports back on about an inch from the top. Then primed and painted with flat black rustoleum paint. I had bought some u-bolts 1/4x1-1/8x2-1/4 inch just in case welding wouldn't work. They would have worked as well and would have been plenty strong enough I believe. Would have used nylon lock washers and red locktite instead of the regular nuts and cut off extra right at the top of the lock nut. Now I can carry my poop tote on the trailer instead of taking up space in the truck!

Sounds good. How does the tote balance out since barely half is supported? Post a pic of the complete unit all mounted up if you have one...

rhino bumper mount tote carrier
Wondering if this carrier would hold other totes besides the Rhino ? Would like to get mine out of the truck bed. Any body use it for other brands of totes ?

Here is a picture of it. I didn't strap it down in the picture. It sits very solid on here. The bumper supports the weight. It's gonna work good. Have about 1 3/4 inches from the top of the support to the bunk door when open.

I went to the hardware store and bought 2 12” L brackets, 2 u bolts, 4 eye bolts and 2 6-8’ ratchet straps. I spent about 45 minutes installing it and about $35-40 and has worked for 3 years now perfectly. I don’t have the rhino but a theftford tank but it could work for you as well.
