Rockwood Roo or Shamrock 23 IKSS

k so gave up on a fifth wheel do not need one but want a Roo and looking at 23IKSS do the new ones have all LED lights and anything I should know before getting one.

Yes the new 2015 23IKSS have all LED lights except the lights over the beds. It really is a great trailer!!!

No currently have a Shasta 31 foot TT now it is too big went from tent camping to TT but my buddy went from tent to popup to Roo

I love my new 2015 233s but I had a pop up 1st. Better make sure you like sleeping under the tent ends.

Most hybrid owners are former popup owners. We want more amenities, more room and less setup. But we still love the sleeping under canvas experience.
Many, who haven't owned either, end up selling their hybrid because they end up hating the canvas.

Think carefully before you spend all that money. Hybrids are not for everyone.

You have to love/like the idea of sleeping under canvas. Then the few negatives are worth putting up with.

Agreed... I don't think we could ever go back to canvas after having a TT.

That's one of the big selling points of a hybrid, that buyers are drawn to, without considering the canvas first.
Many only look at that but end up selling the hybrid, because of the canvas.

I love my Shasta but the Roo is smaller, lighter and all I need for 2 people, my kids are grown so just me and the GF. My buddy has the 21SS I love his other than bathroom shower is smaller than my full corner shower but I can't live with it. I went from tent camping to my TT but have been in his PPP up so canvas noise doesn't bother me and if it did I could always sleep on the sofa bed during bad storms but I am set on a New Roo 23IKSS

I totally agree syogerst!! We chose our 23IKSS for 2 reasons, #1 because it is the roomiest hybrid we researched. I am uncomfortable towing a long trailer behind our truck. Having the beds fold out saves a lot more length to the trailer in towing. Once we get both slide on each side out and then the beds on each end open there is a LOT of room in that smaller trailer. Some of the TT we looked at has less living space in them than the 23IKSS not including the beds. #2 because I love sleeping under the canvas being able to unzip the bed window panels and let all the sun and fresh air into the camper. Helps us to feel like we still are really camping.

If you are looking for a hybrid - this is a great model. Lots of space in a small package. You get the big living room slide like the 21ss, but more kitchen space than any hybrid out there. The small shower is drawback, but overall we have been super happy with ours. Its usually 3 of us, and this floorplan works great, but the nice thing is if your kids or other guests want to go with you for a weekend, you can comfortably sleep more people.

Yeah my shower now is much larger but then again I am pulling 7500#'s of trailer for 2 maybe 3 people, so more than I need besides the queen bedroom is a bit tight. I like that my GF's daughter can sleep I. One pop out and we can still make coffee I. The morning and eat because 13 year olds like to sleep late on the weekends and I don't go camping to sleep all weekend. It is a large layout and the fact the couch and dinette slide out and so does the kitchen makes more room when it is just the two men f us besides the fact we are talking about 4300-5000#'s instead of 6600-7500 and I find that my 27 which is 32 feet is harder to get around at some campsites and I hate to have to backup to go forward...lol. My buddy has the 21SS Roo and he loves it and I really do too so I will be going for the 23IKSS but seems to be dealers offer the Flagstaff Shamrock for $20K and Roo's for $27K? Still trying to understand this when they are the same exact units

Kind of funny - our son is 12 and he is usually up at 6:30 and is ready for breakfast while we want to sleep for another hour... Maybe that will change next year. But for now, he is able to make himself something to eat on his own and everybody is happy.

We do like the fact that its pretty easy to tow and we still fit into our favorite campsites that we took our popup to - even though they are listed as "20 foot" sites. We've snuck into several places when there were no 25 or 30 foot sites available.

That's funny about the price difference. We found a couple dealers in the $21-22K range on the Roo a year and half ago. We had a horrendous previous experience with the local Shamrock dealer, so we didn't even talk to them, except to tell them we weren't going talk to them (they didn't care, but I felt good about it...). So, unless you have a strong preference for one décor over the other, they should be identical. Go with the dealer that has the best "total package." Absolute lowest price isn't always the best deal if they aren't helpful after you buy. But somebody out there will do a lot better than $27 on the Roo.

I figured as much I do prefer the Roo over the Shamrock with decor a consideration also my buddy has a Roo and a dealer he trusts so yeah if I can get a 2015 23IKSS for a great deal $20-$22K and a decent $ on my trade I will be a Roo owner after Xmas.

RVW doesn't do trade-ins. Not sure where you live but RV Direct competes with RVW and they will do trade-ins. And they sell Roo and Shamrock and have some of the lowest prices in the country.
But I'm not a fan of trade-ins, since the dealer always wins.
