Roo 21SS - Rear hitch receiver for bike rack
Apologies to all if this has been done to death, but I am looking to put a bolt-on rear receiver on my 2013 21SS for a bike rack. I don't see any obvious hitches that will fit with 21SS stabilizers. Suggestions from anyone who has done this would be really appreciated.

The thinly welded/thin metal bumper is not strong enough to support a bouncing loaded bike rack.
Only if you have a receiver welded and braced to to frame and bumper, would it be strong enough. Doing this mod woold void the frame warranty if something failed. But since your trailer is 7 years old, the frame warranty has probably expired anyway.
Have no idea what you mean by " I don't see any obvious hitches that will fit with 21SS stabilizers".

As bikendan said, don't just bolt on a receiver; the bumper will rip off the frame.
I've had beefed up receivers welded to my Roo and Mini Lite. See Post #2 for the Roo and post #12 for the Mini Lite here:

Some folks claim to have had good luck with Safety Mounts to strengthen the bumper-to-frame welds:

Thanks both - sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm looking to put on a bolt-on frame mounted receiver that will attach to the Roo I-beams underneath at the back, not to put it on the bumper. There are a few bolt-on hitches that look like they would work but I cant see how they would fit given the position of the scissor jacks on the I-beam. Wondering if anyone has done this and if so, what hitch they used.

We had a local mechanic weld a receiver to our bumper and then welded angle bracing back to the frame. We did not have any twisting or failure at all.

I have a 23IKSS. I could not install that Curt receiver quoted above without major rerouting of electric and plumbing.
I ended up going with the safety struts and the bumper mounted hitch. I've carried two bikes 15,000 miles over 3 seasons without any problems.
I have some well documented threads on the subject on this forum.
Have Fun.
Ron

We dont use a receiver, instead we attached an over the spare bike rack and bolted it to the frame, NOT to the bumper. We have taken 3 cross country trips from the east coast, this last one that we recently returned from was 4 months and over 11,000 miles driving. We have not had any issues. Wait until your warranty is over before doing this. We own a 2015 Roo 21BD.
