Roo 235S Added Shelving

Hi all,

I have a Roo 235S 2021 with the Newport Ash cabinetry. We wanted to add shelves to kitch pantry and above sink cabinets, as well as the shallo cabinets below the TV, and in the outside kitchen cabinet.

I found that Menards has pre-finished laminate 5/8" called Haven color. Sold in two widths and various lengths. It's darker than the OEM cabinets, but it looks very nice/complementary and so much better than messing with trying to match them with stain or using white melamine.

Thought I'd share in case someone else is looking to do the same. Here's a few pictures. In person it looks actually much closer.

Thank you. I used some 1/2” #8 wood screws but it will depend on the thickness of your cleats. Just be aware of what’s behind where you’re drilling or placing a screw. I just bought 8’ L shaped trim pieces for the cleats but you can use 3/4 x 3/4” strips too.

Pro tip: to easily ensure an accurate, consistent height, cut a scrap piece of wide board (say 4” wide) to the desired shelf height (minus the cleat thickness). Use this to easily position and level the cleats every time you drill a hole. Goes super fast and accurate this way.
