I would think that clamping something to ur canvas tent would do more harm than standing on it with socks.

are you familiar with the way basic or older PUGs are attached?
they've used clamps for them, way before the high wind ones were developed.

I don't have the basics. Nor do I have the old stlye. I have the super high wind ones and a 2015 trailer. I am very happy with the set up. What I am asking is if u said standing on the canvas with socks on and the tent end down is damaging to it, then how can clamping something to it not be damaging either.

I have the Roo with canvas attached to the bunk doors. My pugs have the Velcro option. I mounted the self stick Velcro hook portion the full width of the inside of the bunk opening. I drop open the bunk. I use a step stool to attach about 5" worth of the pug to one side. Then go to the opposite side and pull it taught and Velcro it. The middle will pretty much follow suit and attach itself. I use a broom handle to press in place if needed. Then the DW puts the props up from the inside. Then I bungee the sides. No need to climb on the bunk ends or clamp the edges.

you were the one that mentioned socks, i never did.
i simply replied to Summer2go's question where she mentioned climbing on the tent ends.

because the newer tent ends, like yours, are pre-attached, you can't open the doors with out the canvas being pulled all the way out. of course, the tops aren't up but i was comparing my canvas where there's no worry about putting pressure on the tent-trailer attachment areas.

i don't think you get how the basic PUGs are attached. they've been using clips, like office binder clips but with plastic/rubber grips.
they go on the PUG but attach the PUG to the tent seam.

Thanks! I have a 2016 Roo with tents attached, and that is why I asked. I hear so much about tent ends leaking, I didn't want to take a chance. I also have a 183 model with 3 bunks, so everything is x3. I bought my blankets last winter to construct my own gizmos in the next weeks. The blankets fit perfectly on the bunks if I install the Velcro inside the door edge. It is a very do-able project. I need to figure out how I want to sew the casings for cords, and how to fasten them. The companion project is inserts for the windows. 2016 Roos have cotton canvas windows which I don't like, so I will figure out reflective inserts to protect and reflect. The birdies already got one canvas window right through the screen!

Hi, not trying to hijack, but am new, I got something on the window enclosure of my tent end in my 2015 Shamrock, and it's no longer keeping out water. It is about a 3 in x 3 in circle. I am wondering if anyone has a product that they can recommend to use to re-seal the fabric. I was told by dealer to use CRC a silicone based product. This did not work, so I am assuming the windows are an acrylic canvas and not cotton canvas, but can't find the info on the fabric anywhere. I can see that there is vinyl but the window coverings are different. any info is helpful. thanks.

You might try one of the Scotchguard products, or maybe tent seam sealer. What was on the canvas that compromised the water proofing?

hydrogen peroxide... I was trying to put it on my foot and my 2 year old slammed into me and it got on the tent. was a very small amount, and now is a very large spot.

makers of the tents reccomended scotchguard as well this morning. Just nervous to put anything on it after that. I have never seen this happen to fabric from peroxide before.

Scotchguard does not work, it took more of the finish off of it, so it has now gone up to a 9 in x 9 in circle..... will have to try something else, patch, new window, new tent... something.

All, the upper right corner of the tent end is pulling away from the bunk frame. I already had it "fixed" by Camping World under warranty but it pulled out again. Their "fix" was to push in the edge of the channel slightly and added a lot of goop. That obviously didn't work.

I'm thinking the pressure of the stretcher pole pulled it out but the design shouldn't allow that. What actually holds this in place? If it had a rope bead I could see how the channel would hold it, but it seems to be just a flat piece of rubber, or maybe just the vinyl itself folded multiple times to make a thicker seam. That doesn't seem to be sufficient to hold it, and I see no clips or clamps.

I'm in my second year of ownership but have the factory extended warranty. Either way it should be warranted by FR, or by CW for shoddy initial repairs.

We just bought our new Roo! What are PUGs? We are also planning to use our camper in late fall as well. Do we need to winterize it if we use it when the nights are below 32 degrees and the days warm up? We love camping in Michigan and winter comes early to our part of the country. M.

Popup gizmos. They are reflective blankets custom fit to hybrid dimensions with bungie cords to hold them in place. Search the web for popup gizmos and you will find it.

They really do keep the heat out...but I can't speak for the cold weather performance yet. I have no doubt they will work equally well.

I would definitely consider winterizing if it will be below 30 and not using the water. Other than that you can still use it but you might want some reflectix/ecofoil bubble stuff for the windows.

What does everyone use to clean their tent ends?.. Mine has some marks on them and i'm worried that after camping under these pine trees there is also some sap..should only be on one end, since my pug blew off in a storm last night..

I clean first with a mild detergent, sometimes even car wash detergent. Any tough spots left over I try Oxi-Clean.

The manual for my Coleman Popup lists Woolite as the best clearance for the tent ends.

Keep us posted if you come up with a solution. I have the same problem with the windows on my 2014 21ss. The front bunk side windows appear to have spots In what seams to be cloth not vinyl. Can't seam to get it cleaned and now it looks like the waterproofing is off the Windows. Not sure what to do myself.

I've always used a liquid detergent for baby clothing and my RV brush.

I use a cleaner called tuff stuff, yellow bottle in the auto cleaning section at walmart. Works like a charm!
